An amazing opportunity is presently available for an optimisation business partner to join our Southampton-based, UK optimisation team.

This position will report to the team leader for optimisation and innovation, and it will help evaluate how well an operational strategy is working and look for opportunities to make continuous enhancements.

All duties associated with this position will include routinely examining the operational procedures. establishing and implementing suggestions for enhanced processes in accordance with corporate standards, rules, and regulations. Additionally, it entails overseeing initiatives related to operations, such as design, development, coordination between multiple departments, and shift workers.

Key Responsibilities & Duties:


  • Be aware of all Operational KPI's and to ensure they are met as per the agreed terminal KPI's.
  • Review the actual performance against the strategy and plan from Operations team.
  • Provide support to Operations team to identify trends in performance, leading to opportunities to predict future improvements and opportunities.
  • Project manage allocated operational projects from initial idea to completion and implementation. Providing the link across all departments from operations systems and engineering.
  • Present any new ideas or strategies to the wider group.
  • Utilise appropriate tools to manage and track transformations and their impact. To monitor processes within the department, ensuring that they are carried out in accordance with laid out procedures.
  • Ensures that the documentation on operational processes & improvements, within the Operations Department, are constantly updated. Assist in developing a Quality Management System in respect of operational processes.
  • Review and improve Business Continuity plan. Develop and maintain Risk Register.
  • Assist the Management Team in achieving and sustaining the Terminal targets.

Qualifications & Experience:


  • Minimum necessary "A" level education; a degree from a tertiary institution (ideal);
high literacy level

  • A track record of success in the transportation and/or logistics sector expertise in container terminal operations
  • Experience with LEAN would be beneficial.
  • Project Management Experience or Qualification would be preferred.
  • The ability to model business processes is desirable.
  • Strong analytical abilities are required, particularly the capacity to gather, collate, and analyse data.
  • Ability to travel as and when required for this role (In the UK)
  • Eligibility to work in the UK
  • A full valid UK driving licence or appropriate international licence allowing you to drive on UK roads
  • No unspent criminal convictions
  • Able to meet the safety critical medical and fitness requirements of the role
