Our client is a leading precision manufacturing business based in Redditch and are in the need of a Tool Room Engineer to hold a technical support function liaising between the manufacturing engineering department and the tooling team.

The main purpose of thisposition is process control, adhering to customers technical specifications.

The role is accountable for efficiently delivering conforming tooling to operations in line with the RFT and die care programmes.


  • Degree educated engineer with 35 years' experience OR apprentice train/qualified with 58 years' experience within hot metal, heavy manufacturing environment.
  • Effective and confident communicator
  • Strong working knowledge of key engineering tools, industry gateways and metrics such as:
  • SQDCP
  • APQP/ PPAP
  • MSA
  • PPS/ 8D
  • PFMEA
  • SPC
Main responsibilities

  • Maintaining process control over businesscritical parts (dies)
  • Directly Supporting manufacturing operations to deliver extrusion tooling, mould tooling and finish press tooling to relevant stakeholders.
  • Eradicating process variability and implementing robust process controls, including the support of New Product Introduction (NPI) through the die readiness process.
  • Creation and maintenance and development of the die care process
  • Adherence to the Right First-Time (RFT) and die sampling process.
  • To act as the main point of contact between the toolroom and engineering and provide constant communication between toolroom, operations and engineering departments
  • Interfacing with internal and external stakeholders to represent the process engineering team and wider company
  • Ensure process compliance.
  • Look to improve processing routes.
  • Development of Zero Defect toolkits such as DCMs PFMEA's and control plans
