Role Summary

This is a role within the Cost Accounting team with responsibility for the accurate and timely month end close of the EMEA group entities.

This role also manages a team of two, along with several areas of responsibility

Legal Entity Control for select group companies
Intercompany oversight
Business partnering / financial control oversight
Select functions
Compensation accounting oversight
Preparation of Tax / VAT provisioning

**Profile Criteria: - Cost accounting experience

Intercompany reporting experience
Ability to work in a fastpaced and dynamic environment
Confident user of Excel with Oracle or Hyperion being a beneficial (but not essential)

Job duties:

Legal Entity Control - for assigned legal entities

Ensure all Legal Entities are closed in line with accounting close deadlines. Accounts should be prepared in accordance with IFRS, internal guidelines and group accounting policies.
Take ownership for control and sign off on Financial Performance of assigned Legal entities.
Work with the team lead to develop the month end timetable, challenging and driving efficiencies of month end deliverables to improve the close process.
Preparing and maintaining monthly journal entries in the general ledger, intercompany, prepaid and accrued expenses.
Review of monthly journal trends through KPIs and exception reporting to drive efficiency on month end close. Ensuring proper controls are in place with respect to recognition of costs that will stand up to audit critique.
Coordinate preparation and review of Balance Sheet reconciliations. Responsible for the monthly substantiation of the GL and the reconciliation of all balances back to the relevant subledgers or source systems.
Ensure an effective risk and control framework is embedded to support our processes.
External/Internal audit point of contact, providing information in an accurate, relevant and timely basis. Ownership of External Audit accruals
Year end reporting including the preparation of year end files for relevant EMEA entities, Business/Analytical reviews and coordinating with Audit queries.
Build and maintain professional relationships with the EMEA Finance Team and other key stakeholders. There should be clear communication and adoption of Group Accounting Policies and ensure the Expenditure Control Framework is adhered to.

Intercompany Oversight

Oversee the intercompany booking, settlement, review process and substantiation. Working with the Front Office counterpart driving a cycle of continuous refinement to deliver a seamless process
Build a rapport with counterparts in other regions to agree and settle intercompany balances and foster the sharing of best practice. Identify and implement strong controls to ensure Intercompany balances can be reconciled efficiently.

Business Partnering / Financial Control Oversight

Business partnering / financial control activities. Monthend close, budgets, forecast and analysis
Manage and supervise the small business partnering / financial control team. Provide leadership, direction and guidance to the team. Maintain high levels of integrity, motivation and morale. Assist in training and development of the team to improve efficiency,reporting and processes. Conduct regular one to one meetings to drive department and individual objectives
Analysis and understanding of costs by business and entity. Ability to assist senior stakeholders and the Business in cost control. Including the preparation and presentation of associated management information and historic, current and future varianceanalysis.
Assist in the preparation and challenging of annual Budgets and Forecasts for P&L Balance Sheet and Cashflow, ensuring full understanding of key cost drivers.
Formalise the cost allocation review process to address drivers/rules and signoff of the resultant intercompany/functional allocations.
