Description

Due to our current Groundsperson reducing their hours we have an exciting opportunity for a permanent, full time person to join the Maintenance Team.


You will have a passion for the outdoors and be physically able to work outdoors in all weathers with a high level of manual work.
Full time hours are with a paid lunch break - lunch is also provided) during term time (35 weeks). Non-term time hours are 8.00am-4.00pm.


The Croft Preparatory School is an independent co-educational day school for children from 3 to 11 years old, situated in a beautiful 30-acre site, in the heart of the Warwickshire countryside, on the outskirts of Stratford upon Avon.

The role is to maintain and upkeep the school grounds to a high standard.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Maintain the School grounds, including, but not limited, to carrying out mowing, ground aeration, weeding, strimming, leaf blowing and planting
  • Prepare pitches (e.g. cricket and rounders) and athletics tracks as required, including line marking
  • Carry out routine maintenance to grass cutting machinery and other equipment
  • Carry out treatment of areas with fertilizer/weed killers, as permitted, and in accordance with safety considerations
  • Oversee and maintain the safe condition of playgrounds, driveways, pathways, drains and car parking areas. Snow clearance and salting of pathways, roads and car parks
  • Maintain shrubs / plants in beds in accordance with good horticultural practice. Includes pruning, mulching, border maintenance and monitoring signs of pest/disease infestations and treating appropriately
  • Hedge cutting and seasonal renovation
  • Assist with stewarding and car parking duties
  • Assist with school events and functions, including the erection and dismantling of staging, setting up chairs and setting up displays (display boards, signs, banners and flags)
  • Ad hoc painting and decorating
  • Correctly report faults, breakdowns or other issues to Estates Manager in a timely manner
  • Work with others to plan and coordinate work, as appropriate
  • Keep up to date with changes and developments in horticultural/landscaping and attend relevant courses and disseminate information to colleagues
  • Take part in school events and activities which may take place at weekends or in the evening, as required
  • Liaise with colleagues and work flexibly
  • Contribute to, and be supportive of the school's development plan and take accountability for identified areas of development


We are looking for someone who is hard working with high expectations; enthusiastic and resourceful with a "can do" attitude; previous experience of maintaining grounds/landscaping; operational experience in grounds, horticultural and sport pitch maintenance (including cricket wicket preparation).
