Description

To provide Operational and Clinical Leadership within podiatry services for SCFT, ensuring effective governance for all staff working in allocated area or service.

To be accountable for the direct delivery of services and patient care within a defined clinical area.

To work with the professional lead to ensure staff are clinically competent, services are clinically effective and safe, and an excellent patient experience is delivered.

To work with multi-disciplinary leads to deliver services that support skill sharing across professions and bandings and develops a competency driven, flexible and responsive workforce.

To report directly to Clinical Service Manager on team performance, operational implementation of work streams and service delivery issues. To manage a delegated budget within service area. To perform line management duties in line with Sussex Community NHS Foundation Trust policies and procedures. To embed the principles of interdisciplinary working and cross skilling for all staff, including implementing competency frameworks.


To provide specialist clinical advice regarding complex patients To ensure services continue to develop in line with Trust transformation programmes and the SCFT Clinical Strategy To lead on audit and participate in research as appropriate, to inform future service development.

To plan and allocate workload across area of responsibility, to ensure sufficient resources are available to deliver patient care.

To communicate complex/sensitive information to service users where there might be barriers to understanding To ensure effective lines of accountability are in place for all bands of clinical staff.


To take a lead on communication within the service through team meetings, in order to update staff on relevant clinical changes/developments, including clinically related policies and procedures, and to ensure effective governance structure are in place.

To ensure effective communication systems within defined area of responsibility to ensure staff feel informed and involved at all times.

To report directly to Clinical Service Manager on team performance, operational implementation of work streams and service delivery issues. To work collaboratively with other leads to facilitate effective operational management of allocated services.


To work collaboratively with SCFT service managers, professional lead and clinicians and those from partnership organisations and across local health economy.

To represent the teams at wider SMTs, leadership exchange events, transformation meetings and any others appropriate. To manage service delivery for daily operations, seeking support and guidance from clinical service manager as required. To monitor demand and capacity within designated area, to ensure sufficient resources are available to maintain service delivery.


To have direct contact with patients through assessment or treatment as required to support the service To use advanced knowledge, skills and expertise to facilitate and drive future service development.

To work with Professional Leads to ensure delivery of evidenced based clinical practice.

To work with collaboratively with other team leads to monitor performance, collect and analyse data, develop practice and standards of care and facilitate effective operational management of allocated services.

To manage personal and budgetary processes (including; recruitment, EPRF, expenses approval, absence management, process orders).

To be responsible for ensuring effective induction for all staff within the area of responsibility and relevant students. To maintain own professional competence to practice. They should be able to lead the team to its full potential, ensuring resilience and clinical competency of staff and have a keen interest in quality improvement as they will be responsible for development of service innovations involving collaboration of the wider healthcare community
