Purpose of the Role


The Residential Support Worker will act as a role model and guide the young people in our care and will work closely with them to provide support and guidance.

They will work with the young people to help them with their emotional and physical needs, as well as helping them overcome any difficulties or past trauma so the young people can fulfil their potential.

Accountable to

Residential Support Workers are accountable to:
Team Leader(s), Deputy Manager, Registered Manager, Responsible Individual


General Responsibilities

  • To provide outstanding care to the young people in the home, supporting them with their individual needs, whilst working within current legislation and standards
  • To understand and adhering to the Safeguarding of all young people in our care
  • To act as a positive role model
  • To display appropriate conduct at all times
  • To build trusting and positive relationships with the young people
  • To ensure the young people are nurtured in a supportive environment
  • Helping the young people to feel safe and secure in the home
  • Able to challenge inappropriate behaviours and support the young people to behave in an acceptable manner
  • Provide support for the young people during emotionally difficult times
  • Provide support to enable the young people to achieve their goals and aspirations
  • To keep detailed, accurate records and produce reports as required
  • To attend and participate in young people's meetings
  • To assist with education, extracurricular activities and clubs in the community
  • To act as an advocate for the young people, whilst encouraging and supporting them to have their voice heard
  • To be key worker for the young person updating of Placement Care Plans, ensuring all needs are met, be a positive role model, be supportive

Team Responsibilities

  • Supporting colleagues, helping out when required, especially in times of distress
  • Be consistent with boundaries set for the young people
  • Attend and participate in Team Meetings
  • Attend and participate in Supervision Meetings
  • Complete all training requirements
  • Understanding the ethos of the home
  • Understanding and adhering to the policies and procedures of the home
  • Understanding and adhering to the Risk Assessments in place
  • Understanding and adhering to the Placement Care Plan for the young people
  • If required, Whistleblowing, where colleague's conduct causes concern

Working Pattern
Various shifts available - 12 hours, day shifts, night shifts, sleep in (£50 sleep in rate)

Double time for Christmas Day, New Year's Day and Easter Sunday. All other bank holidays paid at one and a half times.

Recruitment Process

Qualifications
Residential Childcare: 1 year (preferred)
Support Environment: 1 year (preferred)

  • NVQ Level 3 Residential Childcare (preferred)

Job Types:
Full-time, Part-time, Permanent

Part-time hours: per week


Salary:
£12.60-£14.60 per hour
