Interviewing now for an immediate or Easter 2023 start:

SENsational Tutors Ltd are looking for highly experienced and fully-qualified SEN tutors with QTS required immediately for sessions in person in Stoke-on-Trent and surrounding areas.

Sessions during daytime, Monday to Friday. You will also be able to work flexibly around your own availability.


SEN experience:

You will work privately or through the local authorities on a 1: 1 basis to make a difference to children with SEN including autism, ADHD, dyslexia and other additional needs.


Hourly rate:
You will be self-employed and able to set / negotiate your own rate of pay. Most tutors charge between £56 and £70 per hour depending on skills and experience.

To become a SENsational Tutor you will need:

  • QTS;
  • At least 10 hours of daytime availability, Monday to Friday;
- at least 3 years' experience teaching and assessing English and / or Maths and / or Science in primary and / or secondary schools;
- at least 3 years' experience working with SEN special educational needs such as autism, ADHD, dyslexia, ADD, PDA, dysgraphia, and global developmental delay;
- at least 3 years' experience working with children with challenging behaviour;
- a proven record of being able to heighten pupil's confidence, self-esteem and love of learning;

  • 100% passion for education, commitment, reliability and honesty;
- excellent communication, literacy and numeracy skills;
- incredible patience;
- an excellent knowledge of different learning styles and how to use these;
- the ability to work flexibly and attend meetings outside hours if necessary;
- to be a team-worker;
- a valid enhanced DBS check;
- register to work as self-employed.


You will need to:

- plan and prepare lessons in accordance to student's individual needs;
- assess and monitor pupils' work and feedback to parents;
- report and assess pupil behaviour;
- record students' progress and provide grades and written feedback;
- deliver tailored teaching activities to pupils on a one-to-one basis;
- make sure that the pupils that you support are able to engage in learning and stay on task during the lesson or activity;
- support and assess the social and emotional development of pupils, reporting any issues as necessary;
- supervise pupil safety.
