We have an exciting opportunity for a Government Affairs Lead to join our External Affairs (EA) team.

This role will focus on external stakeholder management of political individuals from across the party-political spectrum in Westminster, with a particular focus on building connections and networks with MPs, Peers, Staffers and Special Advisors.

Moreover, the role will support EA team members with research and briefings for engagements and also in the support of delivering the Government Affairs Strategy.

Your day to day


This is an exciting role where you will be responsible for attending regular political engagements, including conferences and receptions, demonstrating growth in support among politicians to our overall business objectives.


You'll develop an in-depth understanding of all policy areas within the organisation and the core messages and strategies of the EA function in the UK, with the aim of communicating these to key political partners.

You will be proactively building your own political network with elected politicians, staffers, officials, and influential individuals in Westminster.

Ahead of political engagements, you will also be leading on the production of engagement briefings for EA colleagues.


You'll play a crucial part in leading on stakeholder and media monitoring and providing updates and insights to the external affairs team by proactively looking out for opportunities.


You'll also be supporting the Senior Manager for Government Affairs in the delivery of the UK Government Affairs Strategy, with research, briefings and monitoring support.


In this role you may be required to attend evening functions to fit in external engagements and some travel around the UK and abroad may be necessary at times.

About you

  • We are looking for someone that has extensive experience in government affairs, particularly in Parliament, Government or a corporate facing similar challenges to transforming their reputations.
  • You are someone who can assess political and reputation risk and spot opportunities and areas of improvement.
  • To succeed in this role you will need to demonstrate a high level of accountability, excellent communication and influencing skills.
  • You are someone that is resilient, discreet, and resultsoriented, and can manage multiple goals and deadlines.
  • You're a problem solver and critical thinker that can navigate competing objectives of various stakeholders.
