Job: 2nd Line Service Desk Engineer


Salary:
£25,000 - £28,000


Employment:
Full-time, permanent, On-site


Location:
Sheffield, South Yorkshire


Our client is a leading provider of IT hardware, support and services within the region and is now looking for a talented engineer to join their team on a permanent basis.

This role will require you to provide a broad range of 1st and 2nd line support acrossa wide range of technologies and environments.

Being a good and confident communicator is also key to this role as it will involve wide-ranging engagement with individuals at all levels.


The role:

  • 1st and 2nd line helpdesk hardware and software support.
  • Fix issues associated with client devices and other technologies.
  • Assist with equipment installation.
  • Provide remote support and as your role develops, onsite support.
  • Resolve problems & issues in a timely manner according to priorities.
  • Deliver customerfocused support.
  • Analytical diagnosis and resolution of issues.
  • Provide support for onsite and remote users.
  • Monitor and maintain all networks and hardware.
  • Be willing to shadow staff, learn new technologies and undertake training as appropriate.

About you:

  • Experience with 1st and 2nd Line IT support.
  • Experience with Troubleshooting and fault resolution.
  • Professional IT skills in implementing and maintaining Microsoft Office packages.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Windows 10 deployment and fault resolution.
  • Good understanding of LAN & WAN network infrastructure.
  • Able to demonstrate the ability to work independently, organise and prioritise effectively.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Good analytical and problemsolving skills.
  • A desire to learn and expand knowledge to grow within a competitive team

Desirable Knowledge and Experience:

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server/Network Services installation and administration (TCP/IP, DNS and DHCP).
  • Experience with AV technologies.
  • Experience in service desk environments, ideally in an MSP environment.
