Associate Director, Global Data Management


The Location:

The Team:
The Global Data Management team within the Global Index Management & Production Group. Key areas of focus for the teaM/Function are Data Governance, Discoverability and Data Quality.

The Global Data Management team is ultimately responsible for the end-to-end operational management of data, continued improvement of our policies and practices to deliver high quality data to our Clients and Colleagues.


The Impact:

The Associate Director, Global Data Management, will help solve high-impact business problems in the Data Management space by leveraging the latest tools and industry best practices, performing analysis and articulating the right solutions for different types of problems.

You will devise Data Governance processes and outcomes that deliver consistency, transparency, and utility of our data assets across functional boundaries within the organization.

You will create and manage the processes for identifying and defining data quality metrics. You will also work with multiple operational teams to improve processes and drive efficiency, enabling more advanced analytical work.

This role is part of a strategic initiative to develop S&P DJI's capabilities and support the growth of the business.


Responsibilities:

Support the progression of the Data Management strategy required to achieve business outcomes.

Develop and manage the Data Governance and Data Quality frameworks, working with partner teams and aligning to the business operating model, in the execution of the Data Management strategy.

Socialize and drive adoption of the Data Governance platform, as well as raise awareness of Data Governance best practices across the organization.

Socialize and drive adoption of the baseline Data Quality program across the organization through building a comprehensive narrative of the value added and efficiencies delivered.

Develop metrics and KPIs to measure Data Governance platform usage and Data Quality standards.
Conduct training and education on the Data Governance platform, standards and best practices.

Work with different operational teams to identify and improve manual, time-consuming, labour-intensive Data Management processes that represent opportunities for efficiency gains.

Partner with the Data Operations and Solutions Group ("DOS") to assess the strengths and weaknesses of available technologies and approved tools and propose solutions to drive process improvement and realize greater efficiency in management of our data, representing the perspective of the Operational and Analytical Teams.

Identify, develop and socialize opportunities to do more with our data.

Demonstrate additional insights and value that Operational and Analytical Teams can produce to add value for the business if Data Governance, Quality and Efficiency goals can be achieved.

Develop and maintain relationships with key members of other functions within S&P Dow Jones Indices, particularly the Technology, Product Management, Research and Index Management Groups.

Take a lead role in identifying and articulating new feature requests, constructing, documenting requirements, and working with end users and agile delivery teams to refine these.

Lead User Acceptance Testing (UAT) as required.

Represent the Indices division in cross-organizational initiatives to drive consistency in Data Management and Governance practices and to extract value from our enterprise Data Assets.


Qualifications:

Minimum 6 years' work experience in Data Management, Data Governance and Analytics related roles. Experience with a global index provider would be an advantage.
Bachelor's Degree required. Advanced degree or in business, mathematics, computer or data science, economics, or finance preferred.
A demonstrable understanding of global financial markets and financial data.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to coordinate work done by multiple people and / or groups across regions and timezones.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to use data to support recommendations and drive informed decisions.
Familiarity with agile development methodologies and product management tools would be an advantage.
