**Job Title: Teacher of English

**Location: Scarborough, North Yorkshire

Start Date:

Department Overview:


  • The School delivers Eduqas English Literature and Language at Key Stage 3 and GCSE.
  • In Years 9, 10 and 11, students study a range of texts in order to learn the skills for both English Literature and English Language and in order to complete the content required for the public examinations.
  • The English department has high expectations with regards to behaviour and engagement in lessons, where students are set according to ability and regular assessment allows changes to groups in consultation with the student and the parent/carer.

Teacher of English Requirements:


  • Hold UK Qualified Teacher Status (QTS or QTLS) with an Englishrelated Degree at 2:2 or higher.
  • Recent UK GCSE English Language and Literature teaching experience. A-Level or Gifted and Talented teaching experience is advantageous, but not essential.
  • Be a flexible Teacher of English who can adapt teaching and learning styles according to student needs and can incorporate the use of technology into lessons.
  • Be able to provide two relevant teaching references (placements will be accepted for ECTs).
