Key Responsibilities:

As a Trainee Estimator at J McCann Limited, you will:

Winning Work: Drive our success by producing winning tenders and nurturing key customer relationships.
Cost Estimation: Create precise cost estimates for materials, labour, and equipment, based on customer drawings and specifications.
Market Insight: Stay ahead of the curve by understanding current market prices and benchmarking our solutions for increased success rates.
Collaboration: Work closely with the Business Manager to ensure compliance with J McCann Limited's procedures, business strategy, and clearance levels.
Customer Engagement: Assist in presenting tender proposals to customers and actively participate in customer meetings throughout the tender process.
Risk Management: Assess and adhere to all risk assessments and health and safety requirements, ensuring the safety of all stakeholders.
Supplier Selection: Source suitable subcontractors and specialists for each project to guarantee the highest quality standards.
Teamwork: Collaborate effectively with Construction Managers, Planners, and the Design Team to ensure seamless project execution.
Documentation: Prepare comprehensive documents for senior management to showcase cost calculations and project feasibility.
Knowledge Transfer: Ensure a smooth handover of bid documentation to the commercial and project operations teams.

Qualifications and Requirements:

To excel in this role, you will need:

Confidence in independently pricing projects with mínimal reliance on others.
Exceptional numeracy skills.
Excellent IT skills, including proficiency in all Microsoft packages.
Strong analytical capabilities for financial analysis.
The ability to thrive in highpressure situations and meet tight deadlines.
Outstanding organisational skills.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, for effective collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.

Non-Essential Requirements:

Educated to degree level.
Previous experience of using costing software such as conquest would be advantageous.
