J ob Purpose


A Management Accountant is responsible for the preparation of management accounts and several other reports whilst also overseeing general accounting procedures and practices.

A Management Accountant's role combines financial, analytical and management skillsto aid senior management with decision making and promoting long term financial success for a business.

The Management Accountant will be highly capable to optimize our financial management policies and contribute positively to group initiatives and activities.

To build excellent relationships which are nurtured and maintained with colleagues, Managers, Directors,Branches and Support Services within the business.


People Management

  • Work with colleagues to create a positive working environment.
  • Ensure that the Mission Statement values are incorporated in everything you do.
  • Lead and develop one direct report to expand their knowledge and allow growth within the role and Company.
  • Actively Participate in any team or Group Activities.
  • Ensure that you help and support your colleagues.
  • Train and mentor direct reports.
  • Coach/support finance and operations team of any finance related rules or regulation changes which impact their daily tasks.
  • Create new processes and initiatives to ensure compliance.
  • Be an ambassador for Good Practice and show a strong work ethic.

Customer Service

  • Support credit control team in producing new reporting tools.
  • Provide support to finance and operations team with customer related queries.

Working closely with the Operations Department:

  • Communicate changes of regulations to operations to ensure compliance with tax point dates etc.
  • Liaise with operations as necessary & provided training where necessary.
  • Investigate and implement cost savings initiatives.

Financial

VAT

  • Prepare, reconcile, and file monthly VAT returns.
  • Design new reporting tool to move towards automations.
  • Identify and highlight issues with misposting and coach operations to ensure compliance.

Tax Reconciliations

  • Prepare tax reconciliations working with local accountant.
  • Create SOPs to document current processes.

Banking

  • Ensure bank reconciliations are prepared weekly and any queries handled in a timely manner.
  • Ensure accuracy of new payees, approve bank payments, pull bank reports.

Monthly Management Accounts:
Preparation


  • Prepare all journals prior to month end.
  • Reconcile balance sheets.
  • P&L preparation and variance reporting.
  • Tax calculations for the month end close.
  • Maintain the fixed asset register and journal depreciation.
  • Assist with preparation of month end Group financial presentation.
  • Prepare yearly AOP.

Line Management:
Two Direct Reports


  • Review and 1st approval for monthly P&Ls and balance sheets.
  • Mentor and develop as well assist with any direct queries.
  • Review VAT returns.
  • Lead audits & assist in preparation of yearend accounts and CIT returns
  • Review and provide guidance on preparation of AOP.
  • Understand local requirements and settings/reporting tools required in Workday.
  • Oversee the IATA process to ensure invoices are booked and paid on time.
  • Line Manage Global intercompany role EMEA, US, ASIA, BRAZIL.

Audit

  • Prepare year end and interim audit schedules for Group and local audits.
  • Prepare year end close and reconciliation, yearly tax and financial reports.

Reporting/Process Improvements

  • Become proficient in Power BI reporting and design new finance reporting tools (i.e. cashflow, customer tracking, GP dashboards, overhead management, KPI trackers).
  • Develop an enhanced GE process using Power BI to improve efficiency and ensure rebate is recorded correctly in CW and paid on time to GE.
  • Ensure a swift transition from Expensify to SAP Concur.
