Job summary:


We're looking for an exceptional Data Protection Lead to join our fast-growing team at Cazoo, helping to transform the way people buy used cars and making buying a car no different to buying any other product online today.


As a Data Protection Lead, you will report to the Data Protection Officer and work closely with the Legal, HR and Customer Facing teams.


In a support capacity, you will play your part in managing Cazoo's compliance with General Data Protection Regulations ("GDPR") and the UK Data Protection Act 2018 by communicating with a diverse set of stakeholders and partners to ensure that we meet required deadlines whilst maintaining good customer outcomes.

You will play a key role in facilitating open and transparent relationships throughout the business whilst advocating on behalf of Cazoo and our customers and employees and working in a culture that's open and supportive.


What you will be doing:


Predominantly, you will be assisting the Data Protection Officer on a variety of privacy matters, mainly in the UK but also facilitating European compliance, where necessary.


In addition you will be:

  • Find solutions and demonstrate a positive approach to data privacy matters.
  • Help shape key strategic projects, working with cross functional teams including Commercial, Data, Product and Operations and external lawyers when required.
  • Assessing data flows throughout the business and leading on the assessment of impact to the processing of data.
  • Constantly drive for improvement in efficiency and risk management

Required skills and experience:


  • A good understanding of data protection within the UK and EU, such as GDPR, is essential
  • Results oriented and able to ensure compliance with data protection regulations in a fast moving, fast changing environment where there are multiple demands and stakeholders
  • A pragmatic critical thinker and operator with a collaborative approach and the ability to operate independently and develop and implement simple relevant solutions
  • Excellent communicator, written and verbal who is able to effectively manage stakeholders at all levels across multiple jurisdiction
  • Attention for detail, conscientiousness, proactivity, ability to approach work in a structured manner
  • Ability to effectively prioritise, excellent organisational and administrative ability
  • Ability to use initiative and to work well under pressure / to deadlines
  • Ability to multitask
  • Personable, but highly professional
  • Excellent documentation skills you're able to review large documents and pullout key information
  • Great communication and IT skills, specifically in Excel, PowerPoint and PDF, with the ability to pick up new processes and systems quickly
