Job Purpose and Role:

Reporting to the Head of Finance, maintain effective control over the company's financial reporting and management information systems and procedures to enable production of accurate, timely and relevant managementinformation.

This will include control of balance sheet reconciliations and control accounts, analysis of cost centre spends and bank reconciliations.


To undertake general duties in support of providing an effective service to the smooth running of the Grand Theatre and the finance team.


Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Be responsible for the monthly account's preparation, including all month end processes and journal entry.
  • Investigation into budget and forecast variances and liaison with budget holders in understanding their cost base.
  • Responsibility for balance sheet account reconciliations and analysis; to be completed monthly or as directed by the Head of Finance.
  • To reconcile the WGT bank accounts daily.
  • Interrogation of key financial data to drive decision making/improvements in financial performance.
  • Full responsibility for assisting the FOH team in management information compilation and the analysis there of.
  • Responsibility for subsidiary Company accounting. Ensuring Intercompany balances are recorded correctly.
  • Preparation and computation of VAT return, including gathering information e.g. VAT disallowed, VAT on ticket sales and programme sales.
  • To raise Sales Ledger invoices on a daily basis and reconcile to Spektrix on a monthly basis.
  • To ensure that outstanding debtors are chased on a timely basis.
  • To arrange payment runs for suppliers to include advance payments to Visiting Companies as directed by the Head of Finance.
  • To work as a pro active member of a multi functional finance team, including other departments.
  • To provide cover for Finance Assistant, primarily, but not limited to, cashier processes.
  • Ensuring that all selfemployed contracts are allocated correctly from the Rota Ready system, and that correct payments are processed.
  • To undertake these duties with an awareness of and in compliance with, the Grand Theatre's Equal Opportunities and Health & Safety Policies.
  • To liaise with the line manager in a regular review of this job description so that it adequately reflects the changing needs of the service.
