Description

The mission of the TRU East Alliance is to transform the East of Leeds route allowing people to travel faster, more reliably and in greater comfort between the North's great cities.

Providing passengers with more choice, more seats and better facilities on a safer, cleaner, more environmentally friendly railway.


Reporting to the Quality Manager for the Alliance this position is site based with travel across multiple sites between Leeds and York.

The project hub is located at Gascoigne Wood (LS25 6JE).


The Quality Advisor will work closely with the Quality Manager and functional leads to ensure the Integrated Management System is effective and continuously improved.

They will provide assurance across the project through delivery of a risk-based audit programme to identify areas for improvement.

They will work closely with other Business Improvement team members to support deployment of digital solutions to improve our processes and project delivery.


Key accountabilities:


key duties will include:

  • Maintain and deliver a riskbased audit programme, ensuring that organisational learning is identified and communicated, to build resilience.
  • Develop audit plans, lead audit teams to conduct audits, write audit reports highlighting risks and opportunities as appropriate.
  • Investigating and following up on potential and actual nonconformances, accidents, incidents and high potential close calls where a quality implication is identified, ensuring root cause identification, and implementation of corrective actions is completed.
  • Use problem solving techniques to resolve quality issues and assist the project team
  • Facilitate external or client audits and followup and report on the implementation of the audit findings raised
  • Supporting Alliance Partners with Supplier Development and Control processes, including supplier audits, quality plans, nonconformance management and supplier selection.
  • Work closely with the Project Functions to ensure IMS procedures and supporting process architecture are maintained to meet the needs of the project
  • Enhance Continual Improvement via the IMS by conducting regular reviews and checks of the IMS and promoting feedback from the project teams.
  • The continual maintenance and development of the Project Nonconformance Process, including the Procedure, Proforma and Register, providing guidance to project team members with NCR preparation, submission and close out.
  • The continual maintenance and development of the SharePoint Quality Site ensuring quality information and data is readily maintained and accessible to all Project Teams.

Skills & experience:


  • Qualified QMS Lead Auditor (ISO9001; 2015) or Internal Auditor.
  • Associate and/or Member of the Chartered Quality Institute
  • Be able to demonstrate and provide evidence of experience in a similar role within rail, construction or engineering related industry.
  • Hold a recognised qualification in Quality Management, Construction Management or similar.
  • Flexible, proactive and positive attitude; diplomatic and patient, demonstrating exceptional initiative to coordinate multiple parties and act collaboratively.
  • Be able to maintain good relationships with experienced managers and leaders.
  • Excellent communication, numeracy & literacy skills.
  • Experience in the development and maintenance of Quality Plans and Operating Procedures.
  • Experience in the preparation of Project Quality Reports and the analysis of KPIs.
  • Experience in the compilation of statistical data and preparation of quality dashboards.
  • Experience in the provision and delivery of Quality Training and PowerPoint Presentations.
  • Experience in undertaking Root Cause Analysis or having a working knowledge and understanding of the process.
  • Having a good understanding and working knowledge of ISO 9001:2015, ISO 19011:2002, ISO 10005:2018, ISO 10204:2004 requirements.
