Description
Our client manufactures capital equipment for the oil and gas and renewable sectors.

Due to the successful development of new products, they have successfully secured key contracts for the business and have a full order book resulting in growth across the business.

They have been hiring significantly and are currently looking to recruit a self-motivated, experienced CMM operator for their site in Whitburn.

The role will be to carry out dimensional inspections of machined products on the co-ordinate measuring machine (CMM) to ensure conformance to drawing tolerances and performing manual measurements of first-off and production parts to prepare and complete accurate first-off dimensional records of inspection results.

Responsibilities include.

  • CMM measuring of connectors/machined components and relaying findings to production personnel.
  • Updating and controlling of CMM computer records.
  • Creating accurate nonconformance reports and completing required actions in a timely manner.
  • Maintenance of good housekeeping in the CMM room.
  • Performance of monthly CMM verification checks.
  • Liaising with Inspection Supervisor and QA Manager when nonconformances have been identified.
  • Occasional assistance in transfer of unique identification of connectors.


This is a shift-based role (2 weeks days and 2 weeks nights) and due to the volume of work required there will be extensive over time available.

Over time is time and half for excessive hours during week plus first four hours on a Saturday and double time on a Sunday.


esponsibilities:

  • Operate and program Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) to perform inspections on manufactured parts
  • Analyze and interpret CMM data to ensure compliance with quality standards
  • Conduct inspections using various measurement tools and equipment
  • Perform routine maintenance and calibration of CMM equipment
  • Collaborate with production teams to address any quality issues or concerns
  • Document inspection results and maintain accurate records
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance quality assurance processes

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous experience operating CMM equipment is required
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting technical drawings and specifications
  • Strong analytical and problemsolving skills
  • Knowledge of quality assurance principles and practices, including HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point)
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in measurements and inspections
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
