A fantastic opportunity to become part of our Complementary Therapy team We are recruiting a person based in Darlington or Durham area to deliver Complementary Therapies and Auricular Acupuncture* to cancer patients within our locations across the North East of England.


You will have qualifications in Reflexology, Massage or Reiki and be able to attend all training in Northumberland for the first three months, before being based at Durham and Darlington Hospitals.

Job Description and Person Specification for Complementary Therapist

Responsible to:

Accountable for:
Cancer Support and Care


Job summary:
To deliver a range of safe and effective complementary therapies and acupuncture for clients living with cancer.


Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • To deliver a range of complementary therapies which deliver care and support for clients affected by a cancer diagnosis (including families/carers and loved ones), taking into consideration physical, emotional, practical and psychological issues.
  • To accept referrals, plan and evaluate information and identify any key issues to formulate support plans based on competencies, skills, knowledge, practical experience, training and common sense.
  • To complete holistic assessments of needs on a regular basis, updating the client's records and demonstrating the difference our service makes.
  • To collect both quantitative and qualitative data to demonstrate the benefits of our services.
  • To be an active team member, covering for colleague's planned and unplanned absences at different locations.
  • To use motivation, patience and good communication skills with clients to help them meet their goals.
  • Work in a caring, professional manner and in accordance with the Federation of Holistic Therapists code of conduct, and in line with best clinical practice standards.
  • Record all work on the charity database; demonstrate good organisational, administration, and computer skills.
  • Liaise regularly with the Operations Manager to feedback progress or concerns regarding any aspect of your role and to structure your workload.
  • Attend and complete all mandatory training and undergo additional training that may enhance your role which the charity requires.

General

  • To make positive contributions to all internal and external quality processes and with best practice.
  • To fully participate in the 121 monthly meetings with your line manager.
  • To attend all team meetings as planned.
  • To fully comply with the charity's policies and procedures and to take responsibility for your own actions.
  • To act in accordance with workplace legislation/requirements including Health and Safety, Equality and Diversity, Data Protection, and Safeguarding.
  • To maintain professional registrations and keep up to date with CPD requirements and best practice within your own area of specialism, in accordance with professional body recommendations.

PLEASE NOTE THIS ROLE WILL INCLUDE 4 MONTHS OF TRAINING FOR AURICULAR ACUPUNCTURE AND WE ASK FOR CANDIDATES TO COMMIT TO STAY WITH THE ORGANISATION FOR A MINIMUM PERIOD OF TWO YEARS.
