**Factory Manager (Cartons)

  • Refresco, Bridgwater, Somerset (just off J23 of the M5)**

Refresco Bridgwater -158,000 square metres, 4 factories and a large warehouse and transport facility under one roof, some of the latest, leading edge engineering technology enabling us to produce 800 million litres per annum of soft drinks forour many own label and contract manufacturing customers from 28 production lines. We also have over £20 milliion of ongoing investment in further engineering projects.

We are seeking a Factory Manager to run the operations for out cartons production at Refresco Bridgwater. This role reports to the General Manager and is a fantastic career stepping stone to a General Manager role in the future.


About the Role


You are responsible for leading all manufacturing and engineering functions within cartons production at Bridgwater to deliver safety, quality, and performance, delivering our customer needs.

A senior member of the site leadership team you will deputisefor the General Manager when needed and act as a leadership role model at the site.


As Factory Manager - Cartons, here are some of the key duties and responsibilities:

  • Direct responsibility for the leadership of the Cartons production teams
  • Area Managers, Factory Engineering Manager, Shift Managers and Production Operatives.
  • Take your team from 'good to great'with effective leadership of your team through clear goal setting, clear objectives and realistic targets.
  • Coach, mentor, develop, train your team and ultimately improve retention of your people.
  • Improve employee engagement and ultimately employee survey 'Great Place to Work' results.
  • Deliver the production schedule against plan so that we meet our customer requirements.
  • Set and communicate output and KPI targets.
  • Contribute to the setting of budget and financial KPI's.
  • Review the 'balanced scorecard' and report daily, weekly, monthly production measures to drive performance and OEE improvement.
  • Own the safety culture to deliver safety measures and improve standards within the factory.
  • Responsible for correct outputs and quality of product, working on an audit ready basis.
  • Owns the agenda to meet and exceed customer demands, and ensure product launches are smooth and seamless.
  • Experience of a unionised environment is an advantage.

About You


You will have experience of senior operational management within a highly automated, complex production environment (multiple SKU's, multiple product changeovers and many packaging variants).

This role is equivalent to a General Manager in many other food& drinks production facilites and so you may already be a General Manager or an Operations Manager in a smaller facility, or you may be a General Manager looking for a new exciting challenge in a huge, leading edge site.

You will need to have a manufacturingbackground (FMCG and preferably Food or Drinks industry) and be able to demonstrate that you have ability to meet targets, improve performance, by inspiring, engaging and leading your team.

You will also need a good knowledge of quality systems and standardswithin the food industry, as well a real commitment to continuous improvement.


Knowledge of health and safety and food safety requirements is essential in this role and you will hold full budget and KPI responsibilites from development, setting and tracking progress and performance.

Working hours are Monday to Thursday: 8.30am - 5.00pm & Friday: 8.30am - 4.00pm.
