ABOUT GROUP EVENT OPERATIONS


The Group Event Operations function is a new shared central which provides operations, customer service and procurement expertise to the event businesses in FPS and Asset Management.

We have created the Group Event Operations function to ensure excellence in event delivery, to drive efficiency and share best practice across our +300 events that run globally each year across the world.


JOB PURPOSE
The Head of Operations - Awards will be an experienced people manager coaching, training, and developing team members.

They will be responsible for overseeing and executing the Awards portfolio across several brands from onsite execution to full project management of an Awards campaign to ensure we are delivering the highest levels of customer service by constantly reviewing our operational processes before, during and post event to ensure that we maintain our reputation for excellence.


PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
The Head of Operations - Awards will be responsible for, but not limited to the following tasks:

Team & Resource Management

  • Manage and develop direct reports using KPIs to track performance
  • Recruiting and training new members of the team
  • Oversee the direction and management of your event team as they deliver event campaigns, ensuring they deliver on brief budget, deadlines, and to the highest quality
  • The effective management and motivation of a team and personal development of these direct reports, setting objectives and implementing processes necessary to achieve these.
  • Carry out supervision/appraisals/performance reviews
  • Resource planning for event team
  • Identifying resource bottle necks and forward planning for extra resources

Operations / Project Management

  • Provide strategic guidance, ensuring a holistic approach is applied to new ideas and operational and wider event strategies are aligned, therefore enabling decisions to be reached in a timely manner across the team
  • Manage and execute much of the project management awards within different brands to help build knowledge and process mapping on each brand
  • Enhancing our customer experience from sign up to post event
  • Responsible for all aspects of the project coordination, budget, and successful delivery of an event; from business case development through to deployment of final event
  • Streamline processes with continuous improvement within the NextGen & Derivatives brand for improved ways of working
  • Develop a challenger mindset throughout the team to drive new and innovative thinking and ideas
  • Identify and explore new Event Technologies to elevate experience and share with Senior Management Team to drive adoption

Financial Management

  • Supervise sponsorship inventory, identifying fixed vs variable costs and securing appropriate margins and delivery on ROI
  • Monthly reporting of costs vs revenues and detailed budgets with the Event Operations Director
  • To add value to the bottom line and the delegate experience through innovative operations solutions and by establishing new distinct features for use at events
  • Highlighting clear financial and operational milestones with teams and cross departments
  • Adhoc projects, both departmental and event related as directed by the Event Operations Service Director

KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:


ESSENTIAL:


  • 5+ years of proven experience in B2B Event Operations specifically in Awards managing the full end to end Awards campaign from judges, submissions, communication, and onsite delivery
  • 3+ years of team management/ line management experience
  • Demonstrate proven track record of cost management and financial control
  • Experience in venue contracting and negotiation from £100,000+
  • Proven track record in the successful strategic planning and delivery of events
  • Proactive and takes initiative by being able to identify problems, research and evaluate options creatively and innovatively
  • Selfmotivator and team motivator
  • Must have designing and running awards submission process in B2B industry/sector
  • Must have worked with relevant editorial teams/ judges to streamline and manage the submission process and deliver quality and timely shortlists and winners
  • Experience in working with internal stakeholders and our customers to review and
