This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced paediatric dietitian to work in an expanding community-based service for prevention and treatment of obesity in children and young people in the fantastic county of Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.


We are looking for a highly motivated, confident dietitian who would like to work alongside multi-professional and multiagency colleagues to deliver the dietetic component of a children's weight management service.

This will require the use of appropriate education programmes and family-based initiatives as well as one to one consultations and engagement of multi-professional colleagues in the implementation of practices.

The work will focus on children under the age of 7 years and their families, as well as provision of the clinical dietetic input for multidisciplinary weight management clinics for children of all ages.

Sustainability is integral to the Trust achieving the NHS Net Zero target. All staff are therefore actively encouraged and supported to implement new ways of working within their field of expertise.


Will be required to work without supervision in a variety of settings and remote locations in the specialised area of paediatric weight management.


To provide experienced dietetic support and advice to children and their carers, with a wide clinical remit in a variety of settings.


To work as part of the multi-disciplinary healthcare team providing support for children ensuring all team members are aware of the importance of nutrition for their patients but equally gaining support and advice from other team members on other aspects of care.

To plan work through and supervision of support staff within CCTS.


To provide advice and support to other dietitians who advise overweight children within 'mainstream healthcare' and supporting the multi-disciplinary teams.


To work with the MDT in prioritising referrals to the paediatric weight management service in order to deliver a service within resources to those of highest clinical need.

Undertake comprehensive patient assessment, dietary review and nutritional assessment. Assessment will include consideration of diagnoses, prognoses, anthropometry, biochemistry, pharmacology and medical history of complex patients/clients. Set a plan of care which integrates with the MDT plan for the patient in all care settings.

To record accurately all assessments and interventions in medical notes/ nursing documentation/care records/dietetic record cards in line with Trusts policy

Deliver dietetic led outpatient sessions for children with complex needs. Within the clinical setting assess the patient's nutritional biochemical and clinical status, therapeutic dietary needs and advice required regarding
dietary/lifestyle interventions. Review progress regarding dietary advice given, where appropriate.
