Description
Steelcraft designs, manufactures and installs a range of architectural steel products for the construction industry in the North East. We also sell these products nationally through our e-commerce brand Forjj. As well as railings, gates, balconies, balustrade and handrail we offer sheet metalwork and industrial fabrications.


In order to achieve an ambitious growth target we require a commercially-aware Sales Estimator to nurture existing customer relationships and find new business opportunities.


Your role would involve:


  • Review tender drawings and documentation including quantity take offs.
  • Communicate & raise tender queries with clients.
  • Prepare accurate summaries and costing sheets for labour, material and services.
  • Spot value engineering opportunities without compromising on quality standards.
  • Produce clear and concise quotation documents.
  • Solve customer problems 'predesign'.
  • Attend occasional site sales surveys & precontract meetings.
  • Hand over successful tenders to the contracts team.
  • Prepare and update standard costs against inhouse designs.
  • Follow up quotes.
  • Maintain & build relationships with existing customers.
  • Seek out and build relationships with new customers.
  • Grow the reach and product range of the ecommerce offering.
  • Monitor and maintain sales dashboard and KPIs.
  • Produce quarterly reports on sales.
  • Contribute to sales & marketing strategic planning.
You must be able to express yourself clearly, accurately and concisely in written and spoken communications. Good mathematical ability is also required.

You will need to tap into the knowledge of experienced office, fabrication and installation staff so teamwork is a key requirement.


Experience Requirements:


  • Any prior sales/estimating role _Advantageous_
  • Any prior sales/estimating role within fabrication, metalwork, fencing, manufacturing or construction industries _Highly advantageous_
  • Business Development _Advantageous_
  • Customer Service _Advantageous_
  • Site Surveying _Advantageous_
  • Fabrication, Installation or CAD _Advantageous_

Skill Requirements:


  • Technical Estimating _Advantageous_
  • Computer Aptitude including spreadsheets _Essential_
  • Time Management and Organisation _Essential_
  • Ability to read Architectural & Construction Drawings _Advantageous_
  • Communication Skills (written & spoken) _Essential_
  • Maths GCSE (or equivalent) grade A*C [or 94] _Essential_
  • English GCSE (or equivalent) grade A*C [or 94] _Advantageous_
  • Full, Clean Driving Licence _Advantageous_
