About the role


The Sainsbury Library is the University of Oxford's business and management library, based at Saïd Business School and part of the network of Bodleian Libraries.

We are currently seeking a permanent, full-time Collections & Instructional Materials Assistant to join the Sainsbury Library Team.

The Collections & Instructional Materials Assistant will report to and work closely with the Collections & Instructional Materials Manager to support the undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, as well as providing occasional support for the Collections & Instructional Materials Team that supports Executive Education.

The Collections & Instructional Materials Team creates reading in support of the teaching faculty's curriculum and oversees the lifecycle of print and electronic resources within the library's collection.


As Collections & Instructional Materials Assistant, you will join the rest of the Sainsbury Library team in providing research and instructional support to the Said Business School students, faculty and staff, as well as business-related research and teaching across the University of Oxford.

This is a permanent, full-time role working 36.5 hours per week.


About You


In this role, you will liaise with programme staff to create linked reading lists which are copyright-compliant and matched with library print and digital holdings.

As well as ordering and processing new books, you will participate in staffing the library enquiry desk, and providing excellent customer service.


You will be a positive communicator with strong bibliographic skills and a good understanding of copyright and contract compliance requirements within academic settings.

You will have the ability to work independently and with minimum direct supervision to analyse situations, make informed judgements, take appropriate actions, and recognise when to seek advice or support.

You will have the ability to follow documented workflows with both care and a critical eye for potential workflow or procedural improvements.


Additionally, you will have a proven methodical approach to completion of tasks, with the ability to work accurately and consistently, paying close attention to detail while having the ability to prioritise workloads, adapt quickly to changing circumstances and react appropriately to meet new deadlines or priorities.
