Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Are you interested in working in a busy and challenging Operating Theatre department? We would love you to come and join our fantastic Theatre Team at Milton Keynes University NHS Hospital (MKUH).
Here at (MKUH) we are a medium sized, level 2 trauma facility, comprising approximately 500 beds and 12 operating theatres across both elective and emergencies.
The role is to support the qualified staff in preparing equipment and the theatres to deliver safe standards of quality care for patients who require surgery.
You need to be kind and compassionate and be a team player who learns to anticipate and be ready to work in a busy department.

Theatres Healthcare Assistant
The theatres at MKGH are split into 2 suites with a total of 12 operating theatres, and a procedure room suite which undertake both elective and emergency work.
The role of the HCA is to assist the theatre team in the delivery of safe and effective care to the patient.
Milton Keynes University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, in partnership with the University of Buckingham, is a University Teaching Hospital; we conduct research and teaching on site to improve the care of our patients.
- Organise own workload to prepare an operating theatre or procedure room for an operating list, checking equipment and instruments as appropriate.
- Communicate effectively with the multidisciplinary team receiving and conveying complex and sensitive information.
- Be a safe and effective member of the theatre team during a list.
- Be able to begin to anticipate and have some solutions to solve problems as they occur.
- Be able to manage specimens in a list in an appropriate manner. and to have a knowledge of the Health & Safety at work Act, and its implications for themselves and others.
- Complete all appropriate nursing documentation as directed by the trained staff including inputting data onto eCARE system.
