About the Department
The department of work is sales. It is responsible for approx. 100 online car auctions per month, 12 months of the year.


About the Role
This is an important role in a dynamic small set-up. Based at the HQ in Abingdon, Oxfordshire, and reporting to our Lead Consignment Specialist. There are 17 members of staff albeit, only approx. 8 per day in the office (as some work from home or visit clients).


Key Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Produce exceptional results as part of a team that pioneered our online car sales platform in the UK.
  • Continue to transform the way cars are sold, for one of the oldest and most trusted auction houses in the world.
  • Be professional, relentless, and have customerfirst focus.
  • Add your sales skills to a supportive team.
  • Work with other Specialists on strategies to encourage new business opportunities for the department.
  • Maintain and support the ongoing development of a database of customers both buyers and sellers for the department.
  • Maintain contact with established collectors & trade to encourage further business with the company, either as buyers or sellers.
  • Prepare notes on cars condition vehicles coming for sale.
  • Assist on exhibition events countrywide as and when required.
  • Maintain an awareness of our competitors' strategies to maintain the competitive position of this department in the market.

Key Skills and Attributes
- _You have prior experience and success within a tele-sales-based role _
- _Relationship building - you enjoy nurturing long-term relationships _
- _A strong interest in cars and motorcycles is advantageous _
- _Previous involvement within the auction business is beneficial _
- _Knowledge of the collectible cars market and pricing is desirable _
- _Good market and trend awareness _
- _A good level of specialist expertise achieved through a previous role _
- _Proven business acumen and valuation skills _
- _A network of contacts (or) willingness to build up such a portfolio _
- _Functional working knowledge of the whole auction process and related procedures (e.g. shipping regulations, VAT) _
- _Flexible and receptive to change _
- _Excellent time management and organisation skills _
- _Excellent interpersonal and communication skills both written and oral _
- _Able to work as part of team, and independently _
- _Able to work to tight deadlines and under pressure _
- _Excellent attention to detail
