Role Overview:
Product Quality Lead


We are seeking a dedicated Quality Management Specialist to enhance our Quality Management System (QMS) in alignment with Luxfer MEL Technologies Global Quality Management Systems.

Based in our Manchester office, this role is integral to our commitment to delivering customer programs with the highest quality and cost efficiency.

You will play a crucial role in collaborating with our EFP and Quality Assurance teams, along with managing and developing strong relationships with external sub-contractors.


Key Responsibilities:
Product Quality Lead


  • Support the approval process for raw materials and subcontractors, including the integration of Quality Plans in SAP S4/HANA and defining necessary procedures.
  • Monitor and develop key raw material suppliers and subcontractors to achieve cost, process control, and quality KPIs aligned with customer requirements.
  • Conduct audits of both raw material suppliers and subcontractors, ensuring Quality and Compliance of external suppliers to the global business. Activities from these audits will be tracked in the CAPA database, with responsibility for their closeout to schedule.
  • Review and ensure the adherence of technical drawing requirements, including geometric dimensions and tolerancing.
  • Implement and maintain New Product Development/Introduction activities using methodologies from APQP/PPAP/AS9145 to develop capable process specifications.
  • Define validation plans, gauge R&R, and MSA activities to meet customer and standard requirements through design, validation and product development or change processes.
  • Generate First Article Inspection reports and validate CMM reports against drawings for product release.
  • Update QM data including Inspection Plans, Certificate Profiles, and Information Records in SAP and related systems, ensuring customerspecific quality aspects are defined.
  • Manage company tracking databases, generate periodic reports, update KPIs and scorecards, and coordinate data entry into Microsoft packages.
  • Collaborate with other departments on quality aspects of operational and continuous improvements, including the design and implementation of new processes and procedures.
  • Perform additional duties as required within your competencies and participate in the continuous development and improvement of the QMS across all areas.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Proven experience in Quality Assurance and a solid understanding of Quality Assurance tools.
  • Familiarity with SAP S4/HANA and relevant quality management systems.
  • Strong knowledge of APQP/PPAP/AS9145 methodologies.
  • Experience with auditing, CAPA management, and QMS documentation.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and understand geometric dimensional and tolerancing.
  • Experience with quality inspection methods for quality assurance and part release.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of engaging effectively at all levels.
  • Proactive, with a keen eye for detail and a commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Willingness to occasionally travel internationally and nationally for supplier audits and quality assurance activities.
