TyneHealth is the GP federation for North Tyneside and are looking to recruit a full time pharmacy technician to work in Whitley Bay Primary care network.

This roles come with competitive salary, NHS pension, agenda for change annual leave allowance and flexible working hours from part time to fulltime and this role could involve some remote working from home.

The role will involve working across two GP practices and a job share could be considered for this position.


The successful applicant will work under the management of the Clinical Pharmacists to deliver a comprehensive medicines management service in a primary care setting to ensure a safe and efficient service is maintained, delivering a range of medicines management activities including medicines reconciliation and repeat prescription requests.

Experience in primary care is desirable but full training can be given to a technician who has only worked in other settings such as community pharmacy.


If successful you will be liaising with pharmacy staff in all sectors and other healthcare professionals to ensure a patient orientated medicines management service is provided, conducting medicines reviews for patients identified by the wider multidisciplinary team or from other medicines management initiatives.


You will work closely with the Clinical Pharmacist to adopt a team approach to medicines management, acting as a key member of the multidisciplinary team and the wider pharmacy team, providing medicines management advice to healthcare professionals, patients and carers.

If you do not hold a CPPE qualification this will be an expectation to complete the programme within 24 months of joining the organisation to enhance your current skillset, annual pay scale for CPPE qualified technician's is £27,055-£32,934


You will support the Clinical Pharmacist to develop and undertake medicines management audits, to support discussion within the practice and agree subsequent actions.

Essential Skills

  • BTEC in pharmaceutical science or NVQ Level 3 supported by appropriate underpinning knowledge e.g. BTEC in Pharmaceutical Sciences, NPA or equivalent qualification
  • Registered Pharmacy Technician with General Pharmaceutical Council.
  • Previous relevant experience working in either a hospital, community or primary care pharmacy setting.
  • If you do not hold a CPPE qualification this will be an expectation to complete the programme within 24 months of joining the organisation.
  • Excellent communication skills verbal and written
