Applied Systems, Inc., the worldwide leader in insurance technology, is currently searching for a
Product Owner within our UK and Ireland team on a
12-month Fixed Term Contract


Our Product team creates the strategy to achieve our vision, defines roadmaps by understanding the needs of our customers and the market to drive the features that will ensure the products delight our customers.

The Product team works cross functionally with all departments to define, develop, deploy, and maintain products and services that:

  • Provide more value than our competitors
  • Help build a sustainable competitive advantage
  • Deliver measurable benefit to Applied Systems


Product Owners are domain experts responsible for setting, prioritizing, and accepting the work generated by the assigned agile development teams in order to ensure the teams are delivering and the business is getting the most value from the solutions.

They own, manage, and prioritize backlogs and collaborate with the Product Manager and the business to define the vision and set product strategy.


What you'll do

  • Be the voice of the client and ambassador of the product, owning the product roadmap, collaborating with Product Managers and stakeholders on the product vision and strategy to achieve it
  • Elicit customer requirements using interviews, document review, workflow analysis, and requirements workshops
  • Create innovative solutions to customer problems, needs and wants
  • Own, manage and prioritize the development team backlog and work, taking ownership of any changes in direction/priority
  • Plan enough work for each release before the development cycle begins, ensuring the development team is supplied with valuable and welldefined stories
  • Keep the development team motivated and focused on the committed deliveries, taking responsibility for delivery of key items, protecting the development teams from unplanned work
  • Continuously prioritize product and/or release backlogs, and conduct backlog grooming/refinement sessions with respective scrum team
  • Ensures product backlog themes are addressed in the release backlog according to priority order

What you'll need to succeed

We're looking for someone who:

  • Can work remotely or from an Applied Systems office
Your experience should include some or all of the following:

  • Experience or training as a Product Owner or Business Analyst in an Agile development environment
  • Professional experience or training in gathering requirements, creating documentation and user stories
  • Innovative; inspires innovation in others through engagement and negotiation
  • Ability to make smart feature (customer experience) versus time to market tradeoffs

Additionally, you may have:

  • Experience within the Insurance industry
