The energy, infrastructure and natural resources team is at the heart of this group, with 60 lawyers advising on regulatory, project development, construction,offtake and financing aspect of energy and infrastructure projects.

This top tier team is widely recognised as an industry leader by the major legal journals.


We work on the full range of energy transactions and advise an array of industry stakeholders including financiers (including commercial lenders, international and development finance institutions and export credit agencies), developers and government agenciesworking within the traditional, renewable and clean energy industry.

Our clients include oil majors seeking to navigate the energy transition, such as Shell, bp and Total Energies, international financial institutions such as International Finance Corporation,Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank, European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, and development finance institutions such as FMO, Proparco and DEG, commercial lenders including the Japanese mega-banks and emerging market lenders such as Standard CharteredBank, and a host of blue chip energy project investors and developers including Marubeni Corporation, EDF, engie, ACWA Power, RWE and others.


The Role


Our
Londonoffice is currently recruiting for an
Associate with energy sector experience, having a specific focus on project development aspects of energy projects, principally those that are project financed.


The role will involve working on project contracts within the power sector in the UK and internationally, and in particular in relation to the thermal and renewable power sectors, the water sector, and low carbon gas industry in Europe, Asia, the MiddleEast and Africa.


Skills and Experience Required

  • Experience at a leading international law firm with exposure to and experience in the drafting and negotiation of project contracts for energy infrastructure projects.
  • A good knowledge of project contracts (including power purchase agreements and other forms of offtake contract, concession agreements, fuel supply contracts, engineering, procurement and construction contracts, operation and maintenance agreements, otherforms of service contract and joint development and shareholders' agreements).
  • Experience and knowledge of current regulatory developments in the UK market would be a benefit.
  • Commercial awareness, the ability to build excellent relationships with clients
  • Experience of working on multiple matters, in teams and supervising junior lawyers.
  • A passion for the energy sector.
  • Excellent academics and strong analytical skills.
