This is an exciting new post for a Registered Nurse or Allied Health professional to promote, develop and shape the future of spinal services at Ipswich Hospital - both elective and non -elective.


You must be able to demonstrate that they have the willingness, dedication and ability to learn and develop and already have a proven track record in management of spinal patients or transferrable knowledge and skills.


You will provide professional leadership to team members working in both elective and non-elective services, including specialist nurses and AHPs.

You will act as a role model whilst delivering and overseeing outstanding care to patients.


You will also be responsible for the management of the specialist nurses and AHPs working within the spinal team, including completion of the teams Healthroster, appraisals and one to one meetings.

The Clinical Lead is also responsible and accountable to the Trust:

  • For the delivery of the Clinical Specialty Clinical Governance agenda working within the Trust framework of Clinical Governance ensuring nursing and associated clinical services deliver quality, performance and operational objectives.
  • For the continuous improvement of clinical productivity, patient safety and experience for all patients and carers
  • Accountable for the delivery and monitoring of robust infection control measures through relentless vigilance by ensuring delivery of all aspects of the Infection Control Strategy
  • For management of the nursing, AHP's and clinical service, ensuring the delivery of high quality, timely care
  • For ensuring the implementation of national and Trust initiatives quality improvement initiatives and the Trusts quality priorities as outlined in the quality account and quality strategy
  • Accountable for the provision of safe and effective workforce requirements to meet patient needs and to develop a future workforce in line with the National and Trusts workforce strategy
  • The professional/clinical is accountable for the delivery of nursing and AHP clinical services within both the allocated clinical service area and the Trust. This includes fiscal responsibility for the nursing budget in conjunction with the MSK matron.
