What's the role?


This job offers a challenging opportunity to be part of a trading team in a fast moving, dynamic and successful trading company.


The Derivatives Trader (CERT) is part of the team that is accountable for almost all financial trading (futures, swaps, options) interface of Shell LNG Marketing & Trading organization.

The desk services hedging requests from the physical SLMT Trading desks in Singapore, Dubai, and The Hague, and some other Shell affiliates.

In addition, the desk trades for its own account.


Trades are on a range of underlying indices; in particular, but not limited to Brent, Henry Hub Natgas and European Gas (NBP, TTF), JCC (Japanese crude cocktail) and JKM (Japan / Korea Marker for LNG).

Also, the desk provides advice to others in SLMT with regards to exposure management, pricing formulae, and market views.

Accountabilities/Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Proprietary trading and generate return on Value at Risk (VAR).
  • Execute trades to service all requests of other SLMT trading desks for derivatives and offer 1st class execution of trades.
  • Ensures compliance with Regulations, Governance, Risk and Assurance policies.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with large number of trading counterparties including internal, external counterparts and brokers.
  • Advise SLMT LNG Trading desks with regards to books hedging, pricing and market views.
  • Evolve and implement tactical plans covering day to day trading for profit.
  • Manage FX exposure generated by nonUSD based trades.
  • Develop Options Trading in SLMT as Risk Management tool and as value driver.
  • As part of the team be accountable for delivery of annual business targets.

What we need from you?

  • Good expertise in risks management tools and technique.
  • Good understanding of regulatory rules and policies with a good compliance track record.
  • Good knowledge of derivatives markets, fundamental and technical analysis.
  • Ability to perform under pressure with no errors.
  • High numeracy with good analytical capability
  • Very good communication and relationship management skills.
  • Good to expert product knowledge in at least one of the following instruments (JKM, Crude, European Gas, US Gas) a strong plus.
  • Good understanding of option pricing and trading. Quantitative background and expert knowledge a strong plus.
  • Derivatives execution experience with strong familiarity with T&S ETRMS (DEX/ENDUR) a strong plus.
