_Lavender Fields Care Village is a family-run, self-sustainable retirement community.

Our wonderful care village offers those who choose it a peaceful haven, away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life but with a wide range of activities and supportive services, and all delivered with TLC within this beautiful retirement community.

Residents can enjoy a wide and varied social life, both on site and beyond, offering independence when they crave it, but support when they need it.

We have 24 close care bungalows already in situ, and with homecare provided for those who require it.

We are opening a brand new, purpose-built care home for 72 people _
in February_ _2024, though it will likely be a January start date for most staff, due to the need to begin the induction process prior to our official opening date.

The home is being constructed to the highest specifications, and with all the latest conveniences for both residents AND staff.

Summary of Role


The key purpose of the role is to provide high quality personal care for older people or people with disabilities, whilst respecting their preferences and choices as much as possible in a manner that upholds privacy and independence.

Providing person-centred support in response will require the post holder to be flexible and responsive to change.

The role involves working flexibly over 7 nights, will involve weekend work, depending on the role, though this will be shared out fairly and evenly across the staff team on an ongoing basis.


Main Responsibilities

  • Promote individuality, identity, rights and choices, privacy, independence, dignity, respect, and partnership;
  • Upholding the principles of the Mental Capacity Act in relation to dealings with and in the best interests of our residents;
  • Promote equal opportunities and challenge prejudice or discrimination through formal and safeguarding procedures, where appropriate;
  • Ensure vulnerable people are safeguarded from abuse, and to report any instances of alleged abuse which you witness or become aware of;
  • Enable independence wherever possible and encourage motivation, and avoid dependency when other choices are available;
  • Assist people to access mainstream and specialist services and agencies that promote their health and wellbeing;
  • Provide support for people to access the community where this is part of the care and support plan.
  • Support people with personal care as detailed in their care and support plan, using a personcentred approach and in the least intrusive way;
  • Keep good records, communicate effectively and share information as appropriate whilst maintaining confidentiality and data protection requirements, in line with Lavender Fields Care Village policies;
  • Understand each person's preferred method of communication, demonstrating active listening and always encouraging their communication, for example through words, pictures, signing, technology or behaviour;
  • To support people to maintain important relationships and their social networks;
  • Be an effective team member, demonstrating flexibility and resourcefulness, and cooperate with colleagues and other people in the best interest of people we support.

Personal Characteristics - Requirements:


  • Passionate about making a difference in the life of those we look after;
  • Clear written and verbal communication style;
  • Basic IT skills and numerical ability;
  • To be willing to undertake required training, sometimes outside normal working hours;
  • To be available for flexible working patterns including weekends.

Personal Characteristics - Preferable:


  • Experience of supporting people or of working in a social care setting;
  • Social care qualification (NVQ Level 2 or Care Certificate).
