Deputy Editor, Startups Magazine

As a magazine focussed on championing tech startups, we are at the forefront of this dynamic landscape, uncovering the stories that shape the future of technology, entrepreneurship, and business.


The role of Deputy Editor at Startups Magazine is a great opportunity for someone who is looking to progress their career in publishing.


Duties will include:

  • Writing, editing and researching good quality editorial content across the magazine and website, including attending demo days, trade shows and networking events to understand the latest surrounding tech startups.
  • Work with the sales and marketing teams to create PRs supporting the growth of Startups Magazine and it's clients.
  • Participating in oncamera journalism and marketing where relevant.
  • Proofreading and subediting content, as well as marketing material.
  • Attending client meetings, trade shows and networking events on behalf of the company, including some overseas travel.
  • Support the current managing editor in her absence to look after scheduling of the magazine and content on
  • Attending and cohosting our own networking events.
  • Have excellent writing, editing, proof reading and communication skills;
  • Comfortable meeting and networking with new people;
  • Have an interest in technology;
  • Have excellent computer literacy;
  • Have a proactive and flexible working attitude;
  • Be able to work well as part of a team and have the initiative to work well and efficiently alone;
  • Be able to work to tight deadlines;
  • Minimum 1 year editorial experience;
  • Journalism, Communications or Marketing qualification;

Preferred skills/knowledge include:

  • Proficiency with Adobe software programmes such as InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator an advantage.


This is an office-based role, with an option to work from home 1 day a week (after 4 weeks) and refular opportunities to travel into London for events.

We are a team of 10-15 in the office day-to-day. We are based in a remote location which will require a car to travel to.


Job Types:
Full-time, Permanent.

Salary range: 25-29K annually dependant on experience.
