Purpose of the Role:


To work as part of Globe's North American Property team as an underwriter, helping to manage, maintain and deliver growth and expansion of the commercial property facility.


Key Role Accountabilities:


  • Delivery of daily tasks in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Working compliantly within authority guidelines from insurers.
  • Daily tasks can include, but are not limited to:
  • Review and underwrite risks and submissions received from agents in-line with contract authority guidelines.
  • Professional approach to communicating with clients, agents and capacity providers, able to explain concisely but sufficiently your rational and reasoning for decision making.
  • Management, monitoring and underwriting of renewal business inline with current contract underwriting guidelines.
  • Working with systems providers to highlight and resolve system issues and improvements.
  • Assisting the underwriting management, central operations and invoicing teams with any queries and analysis required.
  • Provide regular statistical analysis, reporting and feedback on facility key management information as required.
  • Build good working relationships with the broking team, capacity providers and clients.
  • Participation in team and company meetings where appropriate.
  • Work with underwriting management to identify and suggest improvements for growth and enhanced process efficiencies.
  • Participate and contribute to contract renewal and new capacity discussions, working diligently with the underwriting and broking teams.
  • Work with underwriting management and central operations as part of the peer review and monthly analysis processes.

Qualifications & Experience:


  • Minimum 2 years insurance experience required.
  • Underwriting experience is desirable.
  • Experience in the North American property market advantageous.
  • Commercial property knowledge and experience a significant advantage.
  • High level proficiency in the MS suite (Outlook and Excel particularly, with PowerBI an advantage).
  • Strong analytical, reasoning, decision making, verbal and written communication skills are valuable.

Person Specification:

This role offers the opportunity of being a mostly home/remote worker, with occasional travel to London when required.

As such, you should have the ability to be self-motivated and disciplined, as well as a team player who is confident working independently.


Accuracy and attention to detail is critical, as well as the ability to handle and balance multiple priorities during busy periods.

You should be comfortable working with employees at all organisational levels.

Open to working flexibly and taking ownership of your responsibilities.

This opportunity will best suit a quick learner who enjoys working closely as part of a small team.
