An exciting opportunity has come available for a motivated Nurse to join our established School Aged Immunisation Service (SAIS) delivering the national childhood immunisation programme in schools and community clinics in Staffordshire and Stoke on Trent.


In this rewarding role it would be advantageous for you to have experience of vaccinating children within a school environment, however this is not essential.


Enthusiasm, energy, and a passion to deliver the best care possible is required, plus some knowledge of the childhood immunisation schedule is essential.

The job role requires good time management and IT skills as the service uses an online eConsent system. You will be expected to work on your own initiative as well as within a team.

You will be required to travel in your own vehicle and drive the team van to be able to support vaccine transportation to vaccination sessions.


We are looking for applicants who can work the core hours of 8am - 4pm Monday - Friday but with flexibility to meet the needs of the Service, this will include the requirement to be able to work the occasional evenings and weekends.

Duties to include


To undertake appropriate health assessments prior to Immunisation, in line with national guidance, Immunisation policy and the best evidence based practice.

To deliver the immunisations ensuring safe and best practice is maintained in line with trust policy and the national recommendations within a variety of settings.


As directed by the Service Manager / Team Lead and as required, respond to outbreak situations which require immunisations to be delivered as part of the incident management of the NHSE / UKHSA.


To maintain and develop skills and knowledge to deliver a range of interventions and set an example of good practice to other team members including skill sharing.

To take every reasonable step to see that the working environment is safe, healthy and hazard free for staff and users, including ensuring that infection control procedures are in place


Motivate individuals, communities and other professionals and agencies to recognise the importance of immunisations and the protection they provide to individuals and communities currently and in the future.

To provide professional and clinical support and leadership to identified team members.
