Description

A global blue chip food manufacturer is currently seeking a Head of Commercial / Commercial Controller to lead the development and growth of their relatively new frozen and chilled foods division.


Reporting to the Divisional Commercial Director, the successful Head of Commercial / Commercial Controller will plan, lead and execute the category growth strategy building proactive internal relationships across purchasing, Sales, Technical & NPD departments.

This is an all-around commercial role overseeing both wholesale trade and purchasing in line with retail customer-facing development projects to identify new opportunities in the retail and food service space for development.


The successful Head of Commercial / Commercial Controller will have extensive commercial management experience within food manufacturing ideally across frozen or chilled protein categories.

You will have significant experience of working with major retail accounts to identify development opportunities and launch new product ranges.


Responsibilities include:

  • Set the strategy to deliver the profit and loss targets for the division through the identification and prioritisation of actions to maximise financial performance.
  • Overall commercial responsibility for the UK division, including working with the Sales team and Customer Strategy and Planning Teams to deliver budgeted sales targets and profitability.
  • Responsibility for the relevant product portfolio, both NPD or EPD but also ensuring uneconomical products are discontinued on a timely basis.
  • Lead the sector revenue growth management strategy (occasion, channel, pack and price)
  • Develop the sustainability and packaging strategy for the division, in conjunction with Packaging and CSR teams.
  • Provide sector input into the Sales and Operational Planning process
  • Lead the commercial team, driving improved commercial performance.
  • Support the development of the divisional procurement strategy in conjunction with the Group Director Seafood and then drive the implementation of this via the buying team.

This role offers hybrid working with 2-3 days a week office based in the Northwest

Agency PAYE, Umbrella and CIS (if applicable) engagement models are also available, which will result in a different pay rate than advertised above.
