The Company
Our client is a specialist engineering company. Due to s sustained period of growth, they are now looking to recruit a Project Engineer.


The Role

  • The Project Engineer will be responsible for all engineering and technical disciplines involved in full design/engineering lifecycle projects from concept, prototype build, production handover and customer delivery.
  • The Project Engineer will schedule, plan, forecast and resource all the technical activities aiming to assure project accuracy and quality from conception to completion.
  • Developing the project scope and parameters for project design implementation with the development of Project Charter Documents, project initiation documents, detail project plans and task management plans, project costing plans, resource / skill set requirementplan, risk and issue log plans.
  • Developing project objectives by reviewing project proposals and plans in agreement with the line manager.
  • Maintaining project schedule by monitoring project progress and liaising with fellow project team members and management.
  • Controlling project costs and presenting regular cost spend reports.
  • Preparing project status and KPI reports by collecting, analysing and summarising information and trends, and recommending actions.
  • Managing changes to the project scope and schedule, monitoring any cost implications and performing risk analysis followed by the implementation of any required mitigating actions.
  • Maintaining a safe and clean working environment by enforcing project procedures, rules and regulations.
  • Developing and maintaining excellent working relationships with both the internal customer, external customers and suppliers to ensure on time delivery of quality products within budget and to agreed timescales.
  • Maintaining the project data base and ensuring this is populated and maintained from a configuration management perspective.
  • Preparation and presentation of a project monthly progress report.
  • Coordination and tracking off all project management stages.

The Person

  • Proven experience as a Project Engineer.
  • Educated to at least HND/HNC level (degree level preferred).
  • Solid technical understanding (predominantly mechanical).
  • Familiarity with rules, regulations, best practices and performance standards.
  • Advanced Microsoft office and project knowledge skills.
  • Good Understanding of Gateway processes and adherence requirements.
  • Good SharePoint Knowledge.
  • Methodical, able to demonstrate good planning and implementation skills.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate at all levels of the business.
  • A team player, capable of motivating, mentoring and disseminating knowledge to less experienced members of the team.
  • Decision making ability and leadership skills.
  • The ability to explain and present information clearly and concise to all levels of the business.
  • The ability to manage multiple projects at the same time.
  • The ability to use own initiative.
  • The ability to demonstrate a calm presence under pressurised situations.
  • The ability to travel within the UK and overseas when required.
  • Being fully committed and willing to go the extra mile in times of need.
  • Continuous improvement mindset with the ability to be innovative in the project management domain.
