We're looking for a Rights of Access Specialist to join our Legal Operations team on a permanent basis.

The key purpose of the Rights of Access team is to provide support to our Client's Wayleave Department who obtain and maintain rights of access over land prior to installation of their network.

You will focus on reducing the time taken to agree wayleave documents through knowledge of legislation and ability to negotiate within legal parameters.

What you will be doing?

  • You will manage a mixture of wayleave agreements referred to the team to negotiate to completion. You will be negotiating with various parties such as Landowners, Solicitors, Surveyors, Councils and Housing Association.
  • You will provide advice (written or verbal) to the Wayleave Officers enquires. This will empower the Wayleave Officers to manage disputes with confidence through accurate and consistent support.
  • Provide feedback to the Team Manager in terms of trends observed when providing advice to assist with the continual development of reference documents and training to the Wayleave Department.
  • Negotiate wayleave renewals by working in collaboration with our client.
Additionally, the team help protect the integrity of our client's existing infrastructure by managing a portfolio of diversion and trespass claims
Key Responsibilities

  • Produce high quality legal documentation including editing and negotiating specific wording, proof reading, technical drafting of contract clauses with the ability to selfmanage;
  • Review documentation; identify key points, risks and issues; and considers solutions. Where appropriate presents analysis to Team Manager;
  • Accountable for the timely resolution of disputes in accordance with specific SLAs or KPIs relevant to your work type;
  • Manage the claims to a high standard, with integrity, in compliance with regulatory and statutory requirements;
  • Draft and communicate with care and skill to uphold the professional image of the SSC;
  • Keep in mind the image, reputation and purpose of Liberty Global

We tend to look for people with:

  • Qualified Solicitor/FCILEX
  • Experience working in a legal Real Estate and/or Property Law team
  • A working knowledge of the Electronic Communications Code would be beneficial but not essential
  • Degree level education / relevant qualifications / good commercial experience
  • Experience of case handling
  • Listens to and understands stakeholders' requirements
  • Good negotiating skills
