An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and efficient individual to join, Urology Department as our Rota Co-ordinator/ Team Leader.

We are looking for an individual who has a strong sense of initiative, excellent team work and the ability to manage a team of staff including managing their performance targets.


The post holder will provide administrative support to the clinical team, including the Service Manager, as well as supervision and leadership to the administration team across the LNWUH NHS trust - regular travel between sites will be a requirement of the role.

The role involves managing consultants, middle grade and junior doctor's rota facilitating the creation of the weekly job plan.


You will also be managing a small admin team and patient pathway coordinators with responsibilities for booking appointments and managing the outpatient activities.


The work is varied and challenging, and your role will be crucial in helping to ensure the team's key performance targets are met through administrative support and processes.

You will have experience in effectively implementing and maintaining new systems.

  • This post is based within the Urology Department and covers the service on both hospital sites (Northwick Park and Central Middlesex).
  • Work with Service Manager on recruitment and retention of Medical Staff.
  • Take a lead role in filling all vacant shifts (including booking locums and reallocation of staff to cover shortfalls) ensuring there is a weekly contingency plan in place.
  • To provide effective management of the medical staff rotas for the surgical specialties.
  • To communicate with external agencies arranging robust and effective surgical cover.
  • To arrange induction programmes jointly with the postgraduate department and support training and development of medical staff.
  • To record and monitor sickness of medical staff and provide reports for the relevant manager so that they can take appropriate action if the individual level falls below an acceptable standard, liaising closely with the Directorate of Human Resources.
  • To arrange appropriate cover for all doctors on the rota during periods of leave and sickness.
To manage the payments to all locum Doctors via the health roster system.

  • To provide daytoday operational management for the administration team including recruitment, appraisals and continuous professional development for all admin staff.
