Department:
Environment and Operations

Interview date:
To Be Confirmed

Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council is a busy unitary authority in east Lancashire.

Blackburn and Darwen are vibrant towns surrounded by beautiful countryside and within easy reach of Manchester, Leeds, Liverpool and Preston, the Yorkshire Dales and the Lake District.

The Council has been a unitary authority for over 20 years and has a multi-disciplinary Public Protection and Environmental Health Service, which is known for its can-do attitude and problem solving approach to enforcement.

We have an exciting opportunity for a highly organised and enthusiastic Environmental Health Officer to join our friendly and supportive Housing Standards team.

As a member of the team, you will work to improve conditions in the privately rented sector - we have a high percentage of properties built pre 1919 with many of them privately rented.

The role covers the full range of housing enforcement work, including investigating service requests, carrying out routine HMO inspections, and undertaking selective licensing enforcement.

In return we can offer a friendly working environment and our commitment to a great work-life balance (we operate a hybrid home working scheme).
