As part of the 1st LoD Controls, you will be responsible for the Bank's Financial Crime Operations Screening functions across Embargo, AML, KYC within the SIRON Suite screening tool and KYC Quality Assurance.


This role also encompasses an AML Specialism and manages the AML Operations function for Bank of Africa UK Plc (headquarter, branches and Rep-offices) as well as an in-depth knowledge of Trade Finance and Correspondent banking.

The team comprises 3 members (the manager and 2 analysts).


Responsibilities:

Screening and Filtering


Ø Ensuring all alerts generated in the filtering tool are processed and handled in accordance to the alert handling protocols and in accordance with policies and procedures designated by Compliance and within stipulated service level agreements (SLA's).


Ø Working with Compliance to mitigate risk to the Bank in relation to the documented processes/ procedures, this role will also act as a point of Advisory to the business for all matters relating to Sanctions, AML and KYC Operations to ensure we remain compliant.

Ø Conducting SWIFT sanctions screening within the Operations function to include investigating and releasing potential sanctions alerts,


Ø Making enquiries to various business teams within the Bank and / or escalating potential true matches to the Compliance team for investigations or guidance.

Ø Interacting with key stakeholders such as Front Offices and other Operations teams within the bank.

Ø Ensuring that the Bank performs payments sanctions screening in line with requirements set by the Bank's Compliance function.

Ø Ensure that the rules and standards relating to sanctions are met at all times.

Ø Review and monitor the standards, procedures and service levels for the Global Financial Crime Operations Team.

Ø Identify sanctions risks using SIRON screening software tool.

Ø Work closely and collaboratively with the Compliance Team by building and maintaining good relationships.

Ø Escalate any aged items where more senior intervention may be required.

Ø Continuously appraise the control framework to ensure compliance with relevant and associated regulations.

Ø Develop a strong understanding of the business operating model for Sanctions Screening.

Ø Maintain procedures and daily checklists to ensure that they are reflective of all appropriate key controls.

Ø Highlight any system or process issues to the Chief Operating Officer.

Ø Assist in the compilation of required performance and risk metrics.


Ø Work with all necessary stakeholders to close out any control action items emanating from risk incidents or audit findings.

Ø Work with the team in the timely delivery of system upgrades, associated testing and tuning.

Ø Complete and attest to having completed all training requirements.

Ø Observe all required deadlines for completing bank-wide tasks i.e. Appraisals/periodic attestations etc. Additional ad hoc duties or tasks as required/delegated by Management.

Ø Perform periodic AML/CFT risk assessment to explore AML/CFT risk vulnerabilities the business area and share findings with Compliance.

Ø Set up appropriate MI and enhance continuously the screening and filtering set up and processes.

Ø Perform Risk Assessment in the business area and share findings with Compliance.


Onboarding Quality Assurance
Ø KYC/AML activity that is being Quality Controlled is executed in line with regulatory requirements and Bank of Africa UK plc's policies and procedures defined by Compliance

Ø Understand the Global Client Lifecycle Management CLM London procedure of the Corporate Client and Financial Institutions (FI) segment

Ø Perform assigned tasks as part of on-boarding, regular and event-driven review of Corporate and FI Clients

Ø Collect and verify information and documentation obtained from reliable/approved public sources or provided by the Client Owner(s) / Business Unit(s)

Ø Where valid reasons exist to deviate from KYC standard documentation ensure the rationale is appropriately documented and approved, clearly stating identified risks and mitigating factors
