Our work environment includes:

As Lead Counsellor the post holder will:

  • Report to the Board of Trustees of Ridgeway Community Trust (RCT)
  • Lead the service, which seeks to benefit the whole community, in line with RCT charitable objectives (To promote or provide for the benefit of the inhabitants of the areas of Milton Keynes)
  • Manage the team of counsellors/student counsellors/volunteers, to be the first line of contact on days worked and if immediately necessary, at other times.
  • Work collaboratively with the counselling team and Trustees of RCT to develop the services of eMbarK Counselling.
  • Manage students on placement and lead in the recruitment of placement students.
Manage the waiting list and assessments of potential clients

  • Maintain the professional standards of the service.
  • Represent and promote the service to external agencies, churches and civic leaders, and members of the wider community.
An Occupational Requirement exists for the post-holder to be a Christian in accordance with the Equality Act 2010

The post holder will be expected to consent to an enhanced DBS check.


Main Duties and Responsibilities:


Leadership and Management
To take the clinical lead and maintain a professional service.

To manage and provide managerial support to the counsellors and team.

To recruit and manage students on placement.


To provide professional counselling, so as to provide an affordable professional counselling service which seeks to benefit the whole community in line with RCT charitable objectives.

To meet regularly with Trustee Board representative.

To attend Trustee meetings as required.

To maintain records, monitoring and evaluation systems as required and provide information to the Trustees.

To develop new systems as appropriate with particular emphasis on IT systems.

To increase visibility of the service on media platforms to enable bigger catchment of those seeking support.

To improve awareness of service in the local community, such as health centres and other mental health services.

To manage the client waiting list, and allocate to team counsellor and/or sign post to other services.

To act as Safeguarding Officer.

To provide support for counsellors and support in clinical, professional and ethical decision making as required.

To review and monitor end -of-therapy feedback questionnaires and to be active in improving client satisfaction.

To promote whole team working and positive communication

To liaise with other services where referrals are inappropriate.

To attend his or her own supervision and provide evidence of this to the Trustee representative.


Training


To maintain his or her own training in accordance with BACP or ACC requirements and show evidence of this to Trustee Representative.

To facilitate potential training opportunities for the team.

Policy and Service Improvement and Development

Requiring and encouraging professional standard of work by the eMbarK Counselling Counsellors and team


Writing, reviewing, updating and ensuring staff compliance with policies and procedures relating to therapeutic work and service, including those for safeguarding.

Introduce and carry through service development, in liaison with the Trustees, counsellors and volunteers.


Finance
Maintain appropriate procedures for receipt, recording and safe-keeping of information from client sessions, donations and all expenses.

Ensure that both administrative staff and therapists comply with data recording procedures.

External Representation


Promote the work of the service in the community, delegate where appropriate and publicise it at medical centres, counselling agencies, mental health organisations, churches and schools and other agencies in order to enhance funding.

Develop an online strategy and presence for eMbarK Counselling and ensuring regular and appropriate updates.


Recruit
Monitor the need for recruitment of new counsellors and manage the interview process, including recruitment for student placements.

Provide appropriate induction training for counsellors and placement students including eMbarK Counselling policies and procedures.

Part-time hours: 15 per week

£10,763.00 per year
