The Purchasing Coordinator is responsible for supporting the procurement of the best quality equipment, goods, and services, at the most competitive prices, to enable the Company to deliver our provided services.


Through effective negotiation, networking, and managing the financial aspect, the Purchasing Coordinator can support the business by reducing procurement costs and increase profits.


As a Procurement Coordinator you will manage our supply chain, ensuring its growth and conformity to our ISO standards with the Support of the Production Manager.

This role will support the wider business with their purchasing needs as directed by the SMT.


This is a key position at Astra and carries with it a responsibility to maintain our reputation with new and existing clients.


Role Responsibilities

Main Roles & Responsibilities

  • Purchase, goods and services as required by the business ensuring conformity with the Astra Procurement process
  • Ensure all jobs are updated on clarity with materials and delivery information
  • Forecast levels of demand for services and products from work orders on Clarity
  • Manage stock levels and complete weekly stock reports to be presented to The Production Manager and Head of Production
  • Regularly review our supply chain by conducting research to ascertain the best products and suppliers to make certain we are receiving products/ services at the best value, with the best delivery schedules and the highest quality
  • Liaise between suppliers, manufacturers, and relevant internal departments
  • Build and maintain good relationships with new and existing suppliers.
  • Maintain our preferred supplier register by ensuring conformity with the vetting process, ensuring all insurances/ licenses are in place and in date
  • Negotiate and agree on contracts with the Head of Production, monitoring the quality of service provided
  • Maintain and organise contract files
  • Forecast price trends and their impact on future activities
  • Identify EOL products, and put forward suitable recommendations
  • Develop a purchasing strategy with the support of the Head of Production and obtain approval from the board
  • Support continuous improvement in interdepartment communication

Health and Safety

  • Produce and update COSHH assessments as and when required
  • Ensure stock cupboards and storage are kept clean and tidy with all disposable consumables upcycled where possible
  • Ensure departmental nonconformances are recorded and reported via Halo
  • Keep warehouse facilities clear and free from hazards
  • Selfmotivation.
  • Previous experience in a purchasing position
  • Stock management
  • Good time management skills.
  • Able to multitask.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Good communication and mathematical skills.
  • A modest approach to learning and self awareness to continually improve.
  • Able to use your own initiative.
  • Able to work under pressure.
  • Able to solve problems and resolve client disputes.
  • Experience with Google Workspace is preferred but not essential.
  • Able to produce regular reporting on stock and supplier performance.
  • Ability to make decisions under pressure
  • Clean and full driving license

Salary:
From £27,500.00 per year


Schedule:
