The St Giles Pantry will be providing a positive way of supporting those on low incomes, tackling poor diet and overcoming health inequalities through the provision of surplus food stock being sold at heavily subsided prices.

The St Giles Pantry provides an immediate safety whilst providing a long-term solution of food poverty. We couple healthy food with a healthy shopping experience. Expert advice and person face-to face support is on hand from our trained Peer advisors.


About the role

As the Pantry Co-Ordinator you will ensure the effective day to day management of the Pantry, you will supervise and work to provide support to individuals & families who are based in and around Coventry.

You will be responsible for the project achieving its overall purpose and key goals which will include but not limited to:

supervising 2 Pantry Workers over a 12-month period, support fundraising to develop a revenue stream to sustain the service long-term, to manage the day-to-day running of the Pantry, to build and maintain relationships with local businesses who may wish to be actively involved within the Pantry, to carry out daily and weekly stock checks and ordering accordingly, to provide nutritional and meal planning support and where needed healthy eating plans, to record and store data in the correct procedure.

  • Self-motivated and ability to work independently with minimum supervision
  • Empathy and ability to work with a diverse range of people in an inclusive and proactive way
  • Ability to lead, motivate, train and support volunteers
  • Have previous experience of working within a retail and customerfacing role
  • You must have Knowledge of and commitment to safeguarding practices and policies, and an ability to promote safeguarding among vulnerable clients and colleagues
