Description

An opportunity has arisen for a talented and enthusiastic individual to join the Research and Innovation (R&I) Division in the role of Applications Administrator at the Christie NHS Foundation Trust.

This role is integral to the provision of digital solutions and business intelligence to the Division.

It is a varied role, suited to applicants with an interest in the use of digital technologies to delivery service improvement.


The post will also support the Senior Research Information Manager to deliver reporting and business intelligence that meets the needs of the Research Division.

An ability to think critically and ensure accuracy of information is key to this.


The Digital Transformation Team is a small, friendly and supportive team whose focus is on delivering digital solutions & business intelligence for the R&I Division.


  • To support the reporting requirements of the Research Division, compiling regular reports for divisional governance meetings.
  • To utilise defined data structures to respond to ad hoc requests for data providing the right information at the right time, ensuring the data meets the needs of the requestor and is accurate and clearly presented
  • Check and challenge the results of outputs ensuring only accurate information is delivered to the clinical/business stakeholders always being mindful of data quality
  • Liaise with data analytics/ trust business intelligence teams when more sophisticated analysis is required to ensure that R&I requirements are communicated
System Administration

  • Manage user account processes
  • Responsible for updating system configuration as required and ensuring system and process documentation is up to date and available for users.
  • Act as a first point of contact for all queries, problems and requests, ensuring they are logged and tracked.
  • Monitoring activities relating to data processing and data quality, inputting into quality improvement where appropriate.
  • Answer queries and action the resolution of incidents, problems and requests in an efficient and professional manner, seeking further advice when necessary
  • Liaise with appropriate digital support groups where required to resolve technical issues.
  • Support the Divisional digital change management process
Project Support

  • Responsible for reviewing and testing system updates ahead of release, to consider any risks from updates and escalates risk via appropriate channels, communicating any changes to the relevant users and Digital Services
  • Liaise with the Internal Development Teams and/or system suppliers for the acceptance testing & implementation of new software releases.
  • To support the team with project tasks relating to requirements gathering, process mapping, system development and implementation including training of users and providing appropriate materials & documentation.
  • Assist with trustwide IT implementations as a digital champion for the Division.
General

  • To ensure significant issues affecting the outputs and quality of the department are escalated to the line manager in a timely manager
  • Understand the strategy and main aims of the departments ensuring that outputs meet with expectations of stakeholders
  • Manage workload effectively and meet deadlines
  • To attend meetings relevant to the role, both internal and external, maintaining and developing relationships with organisations and networks relevant to the role.
  • To be responsible for the selfdevelopment of skills and competencies through participation in learning and development activities, and to maintain up to date technical and professional knowledge relevant to the post.
  • Make suggestions and contribute to service improvements
