To carry out vehicle & equipment inspection and repairs on 3rd party premises as well as workshops within our estate to HGV testers manual, LOLER and PUWER standards.


To diagnose and rectify faults, carrying out repairs efficiently & effectively and ensuring rectification work is to the highest standard.


To succeed in this role your inspection and repair work will be required to pass random quality checks that are monitored by senior members of staff.


  • NVQ or City & Guilds in Motor Vehicle Technology (Light & Heavy) (Essential) or Equivalent.
  • Municipal vehicle experience (Preferable)
  • Ability to communicate at all levels.

This will include the ability to:

  • Seek and act on feedback on completed work and overall performance.
  • Request information on products as and when required.
  • The principles of confidentiality when handling information and advice what type of information and advice may be provided to whom.
  • Complete all job cards correctly following the Mobile Engineer Job Card Procedure as well depot job card procedure.
  • Diagnose and repair defects on HGV trucks and trailers as required to the highest standard.
  • Diagnose and repair defects on ancillary equipment as required to the highest standard.
  • Ensure work is completed efficiently to maximise productivity.
  • Ensure van is kept to the required standard of roadworthiness and cleanliness, any defects reported.
  • Ensure any company tooling/equipment is kept to the required standard, any defects or loss reported.
  • Demonstrate an ability to work safely alone following all lone working safety guidelines.
  • General housekeeping within your working area and with your company vehicle.
  • To follow all in house and 3rd party premises health & safety guidelines.
  • To ensure all PPE is kept to a suitable standard and worn when instructed.
  • To request training and support to aid personal development.
  • To accept and respond positively to feedback.
  • Travel to other RTR workshops if required.
  • Travel to breakdowns or customer premises if required.
  • Out of hours call out and weekend breakdown cover if required.
