The National Allotment Society is not-for-profit.

We have a membership in excess of 120,000 members.

The Role

Is responsible for creating engaging, innovative, and relevant content, designing templates for a broad range of high-impact campaigns. You will need to analyse campaign performances, identify opportunities and make data driven decisions to maximise the performance.


This role will drive the NAS membership marketing campaigns and be responsible for promoting membership, benefits and services, and the value of the NAS membership more widely.

With particular focus on website and digital marketing, this role will implement and optimize campaigns, ensuring a great member experience.

Experience of developing an organisation's reputation to drive forward its mission is a must.

The role also requires oversight of our National Allotment Week campaign which has seen growth since its conception in 2002.

You will also be responsible for our inhouse quarterly magazine, Allotment and Leisure Gardener which with the help of an expert team, goes out quarterly to our membership.

  • Maintenance of the company's website. This includes both performance and aesthetic improvements to enhance the user journey and experience.
  • Sourcing and creating unique content for the company magazine, monthly newsletter, and key web pages. Creating engaging content for all Social Media platforms. Further driving traffic to the website and building an online presence.
  • Designing and implementing marketing materials such as leaflets, brochures, pop up stands and other branded merchandise for shows/exhibitions and conferences.
  • Level of stock required for national shows.
  • Liaise with show organisers and regional representatives to ensure the NAS presence at national horticultural shows is cohesive and professional.
  • Write compelling marketing copy, tailored to different audiences and channel.
  • Attend networking events and connection events where allotmenteers/members or potential members or volunteers may be present.
  • Proofing any thirdparty content shared across all communications.
  • Create informative and unique internal communications to help the team keep up to date with the NAS events, performance, and trends.
  • Delivery, optimisation, and scheduling of marketing campaigns to maximise membership recruitment and retention.
  • Analysis and insight of social media, website and Mailchimp data to drive marketing and team decisions.
  • Magazine coordination that delivers a fantastic user experience for our members
  • Liaise with Regional colleagues to provide marketing support as required.
  • Collaborate with or lead on partnerships with external organisations to raise profile and/or revenue.
  • Relationship building with national and local press and answering press enquiries.
  • Monitor and report on competitor activity.
  • Lead external agencies, when appropriate, to effectively manage events, press relationships, editorial requests, presentations, promotional materials and online activities.
  • Manage administrative tasks related to the execution the marketing activities.


Experience of working within relevant marketing functions, as well as a passion for marketing that gives you a point of view on best practice and its relevance to the National Allotment Society and the work we are doing.

You'll know what makes good content and how to use different channels to deliver a message in an engaging way.

Be proactive and innovative in nature, spotting and taking opportunities. Look to challenge the status quo if it means delivering on our strategic objectives.

Work well with others as well as being able to deliver independently. Have a natural drive to ensure delivery is on time and on budget.

You will be highly organised, be able to multitask, and shift focus as marketing plans and member, or customer needs evolve.


You'll be experienced at producing effective marketing materials which are of high quality and meet the brief and deadlines set.


Requirements:


Essential:


  • Good IT skills with a passion for digital media
  • High levels of attention to detail with excellent copywriting skills with the ability to tailor text for use in different channels.
  • Able to work under pressure.
  • Use of WordPress or equivalent.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Strong practical digital marketing skills, particularly in:
  • Organic and paid social media
  • especially LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
  • Canva or similar experience of designing and updating physical assets like leaflets.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills.
  • Resultsdriven, presenting and using insights gained to inform future marketing activities and build team knowledge.
  • An interest in and aptitude for learning new technologies and techniques.
