Job Title:

Plymouth DAC Operational Assistant Responsible to: Dental Service Manager Location/Base: Plymouth DAC, Seventrees, 1A Baring Street, Plymouth PL4 8NF Hours per Week: 5.

33 per week, X8- 8hr shift over a 12 week period either a Saturday or Sunday 08:30-16:30

Key Relationships:

Dental Service Managers, Dentists, Dental Nurses & other healthcare professionals, Patients, Carers and members of the public, Devon Doctors operational and administrative staff, Team Leaders and other healthcare and allied organizations Overall Purpose of the Role: To provide an efficient and effective patient reception/administration function.

To work as member of dental access team, supporting dental nurse and dentist. To ensure patient information is recorded accurately and within timely manner. To ensure receipt of patient charges (where appropriate) is collected and appropriate documentation is completed.

Monitor patient waiting times, liaising with clinicians and patients to inform of delays/waiting time. Ensure prescription protocols are followed in line with Access Dental guidelines. Assist in ensuring that the Department of Health and Access Dental performance standards are adhered to at all times. Liaise with On Call Manger should incidents arise.

Ensure all operational changes appropriate to DAC are implemented and adhered to. Ensure DAC remains clean and tidy at all times. Ensure compliance with data protection act - patient identifiable information is secure and not visible to members of public. Ensure that the post holder is fully conversant with Manual Contingency procedures in the event of a systems failure.


Ensure that the post holder and other staff members are conversant with local fire regulations and Health & Safety responsibility.

Collect and dispense receipts for patient charges received. At end of clinical session balance cash and Card collected and record in appropriate documents. Attend staff meetings / training as and when required.

Monitor levels of stationery in stock and re-order it through agreed processes. Provide relevant feedback to Line Manager in relation to operational and personnel issues. Abide by the code of conduct of HUC. Any other duties as reasonably requested by the Line Manager/Management Team.
