Techniche Global are supporting an engineering defence contractor to appoint a Category Manager.

This is a predominantly remote based role where you will be designated to your most local regional Babcock hub for expenses purposes.

You will also be requiredto occasionally travel to customer sites.

Rate:
£339.64p/ per day PAYE/ £450p/day Umbrella (Inside IR35)

Location:
remote based with occasionally travels to customer sites

Duration: 9 months initially


Responsibilities:

Category Management

  • Define category strategies that maximise value for the business based on understanding of business needs and supply market potential
  • Builds deep knowledge of the supply market within the business
  • Execution of the category strategy, including negotiating and contracting with suppliers, evaluating ongoing contract and supplier performance and measuring contract compliance
Sourcing

  • Captures specific business requirements and builds into ITT or RFx documents
  • Executes Group sourcing activity using strategic sourcing methodologies in order to put fitforpurpose supply contracts in place
  • Accountable for the implementation of Group contracts so that they can be used in practice by the business units
  • Where appropriate, supports major bid activity where there is a significant category requirement
Supplier Relationship Management

  • Segmenting and managing suppliers within the category
  • Executing the appropriate strategies to incentivise and engage suppliers and to measure and incentivise their performance
Qualifications & Requirements
Education & Professional Qualifications

  • Qualified to degree level or equivalent
  • MCIPS or equivalent professional qualifications
Experience & Background

  • Experienced procurement practitioner with knowledge of current strategic procurement techniques and c. 5 Years in Sourcing & Procurement
  • Experience in category leadership
  • Subject matter expertise in indirect or other complex Services
  • Experience working in project environments at both bidding and delivery phases of lifecycle
  • Proven track record of identifying and delivering procurement savings
Business Skills & Knowledge

  • High quality communication ability, both written and orally
  • Highly commercial, with a proven ability to use procurement to unlock value for the business
  • Delivery focussed with a pragmatic, handson approach that enables strategies to be fully executed
  • Ability to operate successfully in dual reporting or matrix organisations
