Our core team includes PTS-trained in-house project managers, surveyors, multi-skilled operatives, and back-office support who have years of railway experience to bring to the track.

H&A Rail is looking for someone who already has lots of experience working as a commercial assistant ideally within a rail or construction setting.

We are looking for someone who will take ownership of all commercial tasks that involve verifications of contracts, drafting and reviewing change requests, and change notes.

Communicating this in the most effective way to ensure variations are substantiated and agreed upon by both parties is paramount in ensuring payments are not delayed.

Setting up processes to ensure the smooth running of all things commercial and implementing changes to improve the way we work.


Responsibilities:


  • Writing and reviewing change requests and change notes/items.
  • Assisting the Director with drawing up variations to our standard terms of business as requested.
  • Reviewing and negotiating client and supplier contracts through to closure.
  • Advising and giving support at all stages, to variations and contract claims.
  • Attending meetings to represent H&A Rail where there are disputes on projects.
  • Advising on existing contracts.
  • Assisting the Director with the drafting and issuing of contract/letterrelated documentation for new contracts, extensions, or other communications.
  • Working with the team to strategically expand and improve H&A Rail's business policies and procedures whilst adhering to regulatory guidelines.
  • Assisting in providing all contractually required cost/commercial/financial information to the client.
  • Providing a central point of contact for contractual issues/queries.
  • Identifying opportunities within the contract and managing any risks.
  • Maintaining and updating the change register.
  • General adhoc business administration as and when required.

Skills:


  • Business administration experience within rail and/or construction.
  • Highly numerate and excellent with figures and costings.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Problemsolving skills.
  • Must be able to prioritise workload.
  • Excellent attention to detail and works well in a busy environment.
  • Financerelated administration experience desirable.
  • Data recording and maintenance.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.

Qualifications:


  • Proven experience in a commercial assistant role, preferably in a rail or construction environment.
  • Related degree.

Salary:

The salary is from £26,000 - £32,000 pa dependent on experience.

21 days' paid holiday per holiday year. In addition, you are entitled to take bank and public holidays as paid leave.


Working hours:


Working hours are full time ideally 9 am to 5 pm with an hour for lunch, from our office based in Apsley (great location right by the canal and Apsley Station), Hemel Hempstead.

Must like dogs


Salary:

£26,000.00-£32,000.00 per year
